Gump’s San Francisco

Mr. Feather and I are super late on a ton of wedding stuff, including registering for gifts. So this past weekend, we spent an hour registering inside one of our favorite stores of all time in San Francisco – Gump’s. Gump’s is one of the oldest department stores in San Francisco and on my “must see” list for visitors to the city. There are so many unique and beautiful items of furniture and decor inside, and I could spend hours looking around. Some of my favorite pieces of furniture growing up were from there. OK enough of my yammering – some photos!

The entrance on Post Street

Some of their lovely items + a Qing Dynasty Buddha- the largest of its kind not in a museum, and the only item not for sale.

Lanterns hanging in the stairway

We registered for lots of more practical stuff as well. But it’s so easy to dream big when in such a gorgeous store….I hope you enjoyed my little peek into Gump’s! What are some of your favorite decor shops? And where would you register? We need ideas! Help!

Wow, I have been the first one two day in a row! It says something 🙂 I don't have a store to recommend though. In general I like antique furniture stores, big or small. I love strolling around just to see and touch some.

The lanterns are AMAZING!! Serious love. I don't know how I would choose a store for my registry. Sounds like too much pressure to find all the things you want in one or two places!

I love those laterns, def something I want to have. Gosh, I haven't done furniture shopping in years. Wedding registry is fun and stressful. My mother in law helped out for the most part cuz I absolutely had no ideas since we only receive money as wedding gifts in Asia.

That store is amazing! You don't want my recommendations for where to register! Ha ha 'Round here everyone registers at Target, Walmart, and BedBathBeyond. It's considered "snotty" is you even *think* about registering at Dillard's for fine china. 🙂

I love the whole concept of 'Gift Registery'. In India, we just give cash so that the couple can buy whatever they want. In the end it is fun to sit n count the loot :). The main reason being – the 'no returns/exchange' concept followed by the stores.

Wow, what a lovely store! I've never seen it when I've visited San Fran- must check it out next time! Registering for gifts seems like so much fun, but I'm sure it can get daunting after a while. Enjoy it as much as you can! P.S. Great choices! 🙂

We registered at Tiffany, Pottery Barn, and Macy's mostly due to the fact that our peeps are scattered all over the place and these 3 seemed the most widely accessible while still featuring items we liked and would use.

I loved reading about Gumps – as you know I'll be headed to SFO/Napa/etc in a bit and am always searching for spots like this. It's on my must see list 🙂

Oh I love the store! I collect anything with an oriental theme including Hermes scarves. Too bad I don't live in San Fran but I'll be sure to visit this store if I ever get the chance to go to San Francisco again.

Oh wow…that is some store! I think the New York equivalent would be ABC Carpet and Home. It's the most gorgeous (and expensive) place for home goods. Thanks for visiting my blog today…following you right back!

They have such gorgeous pieces! And I love your little trench. Personally, I can't wait to register at Target (I'm a Target junkie) and Williams-Sonoma when I get married.
