True love…or rebound?

Do you have items that “got away”? As in, you were staring at them for a long time, lustfully waffling back and forth while praying to the sale gods …when all of a sudden…they were sold out?

As a discount lover this has happened more than once for me, and in December 2009 (yes I remember the exact month!) I was so sad when I finally decided to jump the gun full price on these bad boys and discovered they were completely sold out everywhere. Platform, gold glitter and velvet bows from Miu Miu…RIP (unless they come back to life on eBay).

So I came upon these the other day…and thought they might make a nice consolation prize. As a plus they have lovely painted gold soles…but they are missing one velvet bow ribbon…

Excuse my dry skin!

What do you think…are these true love….or just a rebound? I took them home for now!

I think they are just as fabulous as the original pair. Plus, if you're brave enough, you can always add the bow later on.

i say true love! they're super cute. plus, it doesn't have the open toe, so you can rock these in the winter, if you like. such glamorous shoes!

True love! Peep toes are difficult for me to wear comfortably. I am a big believer in "If you love something, buy it right away and pay full price if you have to!" 🙂

True love! These are beautiful and if not nicer than the open toe pair! can't wait to see in pictures these shoes with a fancy dress on you!

I actually like the ones WITHOUT the bows better! I think they're a lot more versatile. Plus, there are a few "shoe adornment" lines out there that you can dress these up with if you wish. I know it sounds cheesy but I've seen a few that actually look quite cute!

Don't settle for anything less than you love. Those Miu Miu's with the bow are absolute perfection.

I actually saw a similar pair in the Juicy Couture store last month (they came in silver/black and gold). I can't find them anywhere online, but here's a link to the post with the picture: http://www.rubywoolovesyou.com/2011/03/sparkles-shoes-maaaaaagic.html

Maybe the store would be more helpful. Sorry I don't have a name for you, but at least we both have great taste!

Oh my, I think the golden soles are amazing! And they make a beautiful replacement. You could definitely also add on a little velvet bow yourself in the future. One of those shoe embellishment clip ons so it doesn't have to be permanent!

Adorable, maybe you can somehow brainstorm and get a bow on them 🙂 However, they are BEAUTIFUL without the bow too 🙂

My skin of my feet are super dry in the winter too 🙁 haha eww i know, but true!

That DID happen to me, on multiple occasions. And I'm a HUGE waffler. I'm currently torturing myself over Givenchy sandals… we'll see how that turns out!

Anywho, I was looking at some heels on ASOS.com this February, and I had actually planned over half of my spring wardrobe around them. For the LIFE of me, I don't know why I waited–they weren't prohibitively expensive or anything! Then poof, when I actually decided to get them, they were sold out except for a pair of 10's and a pair of 6's. I even had my English friend check the UK site, and they were ALL sold out there. I'm embarrassed to admit that I actually shed a tear 🙁

But I have consoled myself with others since, and my oh-so-supportive mother told me what all good mothers tell their daughters when they are scorned by a lover (okay, I'm getting dramatic): "There are other shoes in the sea"

    🙂
I still think THOSE Miu Mius are to die for, and as time goes on, you may actually grow to like them more than those silly bows!!

I LOVE them! And if you're crafty, you can add the velvet bow yourself. I had this happen to me with a leopard-print cardigan I was lusty after but couldn't afford. As soon as I started working, I went to buy it but it was sold out. Not in stores, not online. Nada. So sad!

The originals are definitely fabulous, but I think the pair you purchased are pretty amazing too. I often find myself in the same predicament. Remember the Michael Kors camouflage bag from this past fall? I was debating for 3 months if I should buy the trendy piece (I usually go for more staple items), and I waited too long and then it was sold out everywhere. Funny thing is, I haven't seen anyone carrying it!

I would say it is a rebound. I prefer the first pair with platform and velvet bow. Plus it's open-toed platform means it should be more comfy.

The pair you bought has a more dainty look. Sweet in a way.

You could probably make a velvet bow yourself and clip it on like a shoeclip? I think these ones are pretty fabulous too but I know what you mean about missing out on beloved items.

Oh I know what you mean – there are 3 or 4 pairs of shoes that I stalk religiously on ebay hoping they one day turn up in my size… I have the Miu Mius with the bows, but honestly have only worn them a couple times around the holidays. I recently caved and got the newer version in black though – they're more comfortable IMO. Look great in gold as well!

Oh my! Both of those shoes are adorable! I say true love. I love those glittery sparkly shoes. I think you can get away with wearing them with a lot of things, dresses, jeans, etc. I've been trying to find a pair for me but it is so hard because I am a size 5!

I think they are a winner! I love peeptoes, but I like these. I like how it's continuous, not showing a platform. I like how the heel is smooth to shake things up. I like them bowless, but you can probably find bow clips. So, that's what I like 😀

Haha I know the feeling!! I always lust for things that are too expensive and then I just end up getting substitutes… but I do ok with the substitutes anyway especially if they are like 1/10th the price of the original awesome item. 🙂

Btw, how did you know about the dimsum restaurant! 😀 you've been there before??
