I’m so glad the weekend is here! Work has kept me busy and allergies plus a spring flu have hit me hard. We had a few dinners out this week and I wore this to out to Afghan food with a friend of our’s visiting from overseas. I love Afghan food and always over order for to have leftovers, what’s better than lamb dumplings the next day?

Leopard Dress

Equipment dress (similar here, a breezy summer version here)
Bottega Veneta clutch (love this version at 1/5 the price)
Valentino pumps (love the kitten version)

An accessories close up – I love my Knot clutch! I really use it all the time.

These Valentino pumps were one of my wedding shoes (I only had two pairs, I’m not a monster). Anyway, during my wedding day I found them to be quite uncomfortable by the end of the night, though I had been on my feet for more than eight hours by that point, wearing a dress that felt like it weighed a zillion pounds. I’ve since worn them and found them to be much better and they always remind me of my wedding when I put them on – a happy memory! And a piece of advice from me to future brides – break in your shoes!

Since I already have two black clutches, and am much more likely to be found 19th in line, queuing up for falafel on any given night versus at a black tie event, you’d think that I would be done with dark colored evening bags. However I do have an addiction, and I use my existing clutches for more casual outings more than I thought I would. Because of my fondness for these little bags, last week I finally picked up an item on my list that I’ve been after for years – a Bottega Veneta Knot!

I first spied this studded Bottega knot almost 18 months ago, and was immediately drawn to it.  I didn’t buy it because a) there were other closet priorities at the time, and b) I thought I might want to wait out for a more “classic” style. Since it was a seasonal style, I thought that I might try and wait out for a sale as well. Over the months there were a few other clutches that caught my eye – but none that really spoke to me like this studded one. I hemmed and hawed and went and bothered a few Bottega experts that I knew (including two that were interviewed on this site – Belle and T, thank you!) and learned that Bottega knots almost never go on sale, especially in black. They also aren’t carried in the outlets. Continue reading »

Today’s interview is with Georgie – a former lawyer, wife, and mother of three in Singapore. Georgie has the kind of style which I personally adore – clean, crisp, and very chic. She has a beautiful closet filled with classic items that are a reflection of her fabulous taste, and has some surprising (and awesome) hobbies which you’ll soon learn about. Enjoy meeting Georgie!

Who are you? What do you do, and where do you live?

My name is Georgie and I’m a Malaysian Chinese living in Singapore. I was a lawyer before my kids came along, but I’ve been a stay home mom to three teenage boys for a long time now.

How do you feel about the general fashion in Singapore? Anything that you find unique to where you live? ?

Singaporeans have been accused of being sloppy dressers. Many people go about in tank tops and shorts and flip flops because it is so hot and humid all year round. I do think that’s too sloppy, and it is possible to dress well casually eg. sun dresses and espadrilles, cotton/linen pants/shorts and a nice tee/blouse with ballerina flats. Continue reading »

Today’s interview is with someone I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the past few months – the lovely and accomplished Sonita. I admire Sonita greatly because she has been able to achieve success and happiness on her defined terms. She’s built a fantastic career, made and stuck by her own family choices (you’ll read more on that later), and dedicated her time to worthy causes. Along the way, Sonita has also gathered together an enviable closet and travel schedule – with amazing style to match. Enjoy meeting her!
