Today’s interview is with Roxy – tech executive and blogger extraordinaire at Effortless Anthropologie. Even though I’ve been quite a fan of Anthropologie for a while, it’s a store that I rarely go into these days because a) the selection and choices can be overwhelming and b) I only justify buying a certain number of whimsical doorknobs…which at this point I suspect may exceed the actual number of doors in my apartment.

That’s why I adore Roxy’s blog, which I catch up with almost daily in my reader. Roxy is of course a huge fan of Anthropologie, and her site often has the latest and greatest new items and sale updates. On top of all of this, Roxy covers the business of the brand as well – customer service, logistics, pricing and even the quarterly earnings call. Her passion is rooted both in an appreciation of style and of business fundamentals – so I was excited to interview her today. Enjoy meeting Roxy!

Who are you? What do you do, and where do you live?

Online I go by Roxy, which is a nickname I’ve had since college. I do a lot of things but if you’re reading this you probably know me for my two blogs, Effortless Anthropologie and (the woefully under-updated) Parallel Universes Resolution Tumblr. In the real world I’m currently on a break from work in the internet/tech industry while I recharge my batteries.

I live in New York City! And because I’m totally biased I can tell you that it’s the best city in the world. Continue reading »

There were a few requests last week to show my Eileen Fisher skirt on after this post (what, small photos of my headless torso aren’t enough for you??) so here it is! I wore it to work and to keep it a little more casual I paired a soft chambray shirt on top.

I’ve made a few shopping purchases lately but I have to say that my favorite purchase by FAR this season has been my awesome new Kindle Paperwhite. I’ve had the older Kindle for quite some time now, and it was almost perfect except for the fact that there wasn’t a built in light (I like to read in night in bed without disturbing my husband) and it was a little heavy. The new one is much lighter and smaller with a built in backlight – you can see the comparison below.

I also love my new case that I bought for it, designed by Amazon. The price of a case has always been hard to swallow for me especially since in the Kindle’s case it is basically 1/3rd the price of the device. However a case is essential in my opinion since the screens are easily broken, and they’re very nice. So if you get a Kindle I’d recommend one. And if you are a reader and haven’t tried  a Kindle or a similar e-reader I’d seriously test one out! They’re amazing and have changed my reading life, I plow through so many more books now, now that I always have a little collection handy.

Thanks for reading and hope your week is starting off well!

This weekend I had a nice mini break with my husband – we did a trip to Healdsburg to check it out and to try the restaurant Cyrus before it closes in October. I have a post along for that, but for now this is what I wore on the car ride up – it was hot! You can see that I was in a hurry and was rooting in my bag for something right before this photo was taken. I always leave my Chanel flaps open out of laziness but it probably isn’t good for the bags.

Yesterday’s weather was the best so far this year in Boston. It was 73 degrees out, awesome! I got to bring out a tunic and slip that I’ve had and wanted to pair up for the first time to wear as a dress.

I posted yesterday that I wanted to share with you my favorite pair of Louboutins, and I have a little story to go with them. I found this pair on sale in London at the Mount Street boutique and was debating for a while on whether to purchase them. Finally the security guard said, “I’ve seen a lot of women and a lot of shoes being tried on here… and it is my opinion that you should buy that pair.”

…so I did! A close up of my treasured lilac python Decolletes:
