Shoe Review: Everlane and Nisolo

Sale PSA: Another exellent bootie option from Vince, now under $300, a pretty silk jumpsuit from DVF, now 40% off, a great short jacket from Rails, now $150, and both a heeled and flat Chelsea boot option from Madewell, both up to 30% off with code YOUCHOOSE

Today, I’m reviewing two recent shoe additions to my closet! I’ve been trying to diversify my shoe collection away from black (I say this, having just ordered two pairs of black boots to try – review coming for those too). However, in the meantime I was brave! And ordered a few pairs of camel shoes! Starting with these Everlane glove boots:

Everlane, $155 (also on Everlane site, in more colors)

I recommended these last Friday because they were quickly selling out. And because I had already received them and love them. And I do! The sock like structure is soo easy to pull on (no zippers or anything) and the heel is a really comfortable height. And they also fit quite close to the leg (with room for socks, when they become a perfect fit). Here you can see them worn with jeans, below (I’m wearing this Madewell pair, currently on sale):

As well as wide legged pants! They also look decent with skirts but I did find that the skirts have to be pretty short, because I’m short legged, or otherwise long midi style – although the camel color helps in blending in with skin. Because of the glove structure, the shaft on these is slightly higher than on other ankle boots. I’ll probably end up wearing these mostly with pants, like below. I like the color a lot and think they’re a great neutral alternative to black.

For sizing – I took my true size, 6.5, and there is room for medium thickness socks. Though I can also see myself going sockless on lazier days.

Next up, these Nisolo Ama Mules:

I forgot where I first heard of Nisolo – it’s one of those ethical brands, that pays their workers responsibly and I have been trying to shop both less and responsibly and I saw these mules, and so thought – why not try them? And placed my order. In the Bay Area, mules are year round shoes and I love them because I’m very lazy. If I can just slip in and go? Even better!

I left my son in this shot instead of cropping my little darling out. Because I get emails requesting more product reviews and you can see what I’m dealing with when I do these posts, ha. My nightmare is that one day my kids are going to go to school and tell the whole class that mommy takes photos of herself with a tripod all day. Ahh!

Anyway. These mules. I love them! To me they are almost the perfect flat mule. First because they aren’t super flat – they have a tiny bit of a heel, and also because they are the perfect shade of tan, and also because the woven detail adds some interest to outfits. They are also very comfortable, and I think look more expensive than they are. They also stay on my foot super well. One thing I would caution is that the soles are incredibly soft – if you are trying them on and aren’t sure you want to keep, I would recommend wearing them on a carpet because even on my wood floors, the soles got a little scuffed.

I was thinking for days about getting the Gucci Princetowns in the cognac color but instead just decided to stick with these. I love the way they look and they were like a fifth of the price!

Also, if you sign up for the Nisolo newsletter you get 15% off – just scroll to the bottom of their site (that’s how I got mine, and it was the cheapest of the various promotions I looked up). I also took my true size, 6.5, and they fit well and my heel is all the way in (unlike a pair of Madewell mules I tried, where my heel was hanging over). Just my experience!

I hope this review was helpful for any of you looking for some new fall shoes! And happy Monday!

Thank you so much! Honestly they are hideous so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend…I will share though if I find a good option!

loved Your comment about your son- when my daughter was 3, the class had a mother’s day presentation and each child told what their mom liked to do – and my girl volunteered that “mommy liked to lay on the couch” but I was 8 months pregnant so it got a good laugh! Love your blog?

Thanks to your recommendation, I stopped by the Everlane on Valencia and picked up a pair of the glove boots in black. Great pick! I love your product reviews 🙂
