Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A bunch of Vince items! First a long sleeved twist dress, now 60% off, a side slit midi dress, now $111, a twist front pleated midi dress, now 40% off, silk pajama pants, now 40% off, and a cute crop linen tank, now 40% off.

Also! Anthropologie is 20% off the site with free shipping! Some picks: these Soludos mules (am considering), this fun tie dye shirtdress, this pretty classic shirtdress, and this emerald dress which I like but is also a complete knockoff of the Ulla Johnson I got earlier? Not sure how I feel but it is more affordable. Also the black real Ulla is available here in 0!

1. This week, sharing not clothes but this great Diptyque roller.

I think I’ve shared this before. This is one of my cosmetic bag mainstays – I usually have one on me (except in my Evelyne TPM, because I’m afraid of it rolling out). I love Diptyque scents and they are fresh and pretty and I am a kid and think the rollerball is cool. The Philosykos is a recent favorite (my other is the classic Roses, which I just noticed writing this is sold out everywhere? I hope it is just temporary). I’d LOVE to hear your favorites for portable scents!

2. Sharing this piece, via The Cut, about how 2009 killed fashion as we know it. Do you remember 2009? I was just starting business school and all I cared about fashion wise was finding the right puffer coat for Boston.

3. A very interesting piece, via The NY Times, about how while critics love Prada, shoppers haven’t as much in recent years. I personally also love Prada! The clothes and shoes are some of my favorites. But yeah the store is always empty when I walk by (on the way to Din Tai Fung).

4. Another piece, via The Cut, on the Unfluencer (aka the influencer you hate). I do have this bias with certain blogger collaborations that are sold, which I know is especially stupid and hypocritical, as I have my own blog. But I’m just a tiny fish.

5. This week I’m reading Common Ground, by J. Anthony Lukas.

This was recommended to me because I liked Random Family so much. This book is similarly researched like Random Family, but with greater and more direct observations about society as a whole. I will say that the prose is a little more dense – but I’ve been working through and am in awe over J. Anthony Lukas and what he was able to achieve. I looked up Lukas and he actually committed suicide – there was the comment that because he was so depressed, he found an outlet through his work, and afterward he was left with a hole. If you like the work of Robert Caro, who I feel has a similar pace and style, I highly recommend Common Ground.

I think you meant “he was left with a hole”. You can delete this…

My only perfume that I have ever used is CK one. Tried others but that’s the only one I always go back to. Not very sophisticated but I like the clean scent. Also like acqua di gio by Armani.

Recently discovered H&M scents which were developed with Olivier Pescheux who did some Diptyque scents. They come in travel sizes too

MaiTai Collection has inserts for the Evelyne, which work really well (currently available for PM and GM); I also use mine in the Trim II, which isn’t perfect but gives me desired organization there. Link is below:

i bought my doson dyptique roller thinking it would be a great travel perfume. however it always leaked during my travels. i don’t know why maybe it was the air pressure or it was just simply a faulty roller bottle….but after 3 trips its totally empty now. contemplating on if i should bring it to the shop….

Narcisco Rodriguez! They have a rollerball and travel spray bottle, depending on how long my trip is I’ll take one. I’ve worn the scent forever and can’t imagine switching at this point.
A friend wears Hermes Rose Ikebana and it smells so lovely and I have also seen her with a travel size bottle so that’s another good option 😉
