Weekend Update

1. Aside from the picks above, my #1 item from the Shopbop sale is this pretty chiffon Theory dress.

I wear my polka dot items a lot, a lot more than any other of my printed items (sadly). I love this dress because of how pretty and floaty it is – it’s the sort that I think would be kept in my closet for a very long time and would have great cost per wear. Considering!

2. Sharing this review, via The Guardian, of Damien Hirst’s retrospective of Jeff Koons. I’d love to hear your opinion on Koons. And Hirst. If you’re really interested you can check out one of my old posts (seven years old!!) with Don Thompson.

3. I loved this ode to Hermes, via The NY Times T Magazine. Since I’m obviously a huge fan, it was a treat! Is some of it total PR speak given my own personal experiences and what I hear whispered? Yeah but it’s still worlds better than any other *large* luxury house.

4. Did you watch the Oscars? I didn’t but I think I YouTubed all the important parts. And the most interesting bits are the gossip anyway – read about the coverage of the Vanity Fair party and then also read what happened after – Vanity Fair disinvited the NYT!

5. This week I read Looker, by Laura Sims.

This is a very good book. Beautifully written – the prose reminds me of The Perfect Nanny, one of my favorites of last year. It’s a psychological thriller about a woman who becomes obsessed with the actress living next door. That being said, it’s definitely a “slow burn” sort of novel – there is action, but you have to wait for it. If you’re looking for a thriller and don’t need to have a ton of action right off the bat, I highly recommendLooker.

Thanks for the NYT Mag article on Hermes, I hadn’t seen it. Any decision on Animapolis?

I’m reading too much non-fiction lately so always appreciate your fiction suggestions. I loved The Perfect Nanny and am looking at Adele. Is it on your list?

I’m still thinking about it!! I love but don’t have any more hanging kits left haha. I have Adele on my list, I loved Nanny so much that I’m almost afraid I’ll be disappointed if you know what I mean. But I don’t think I will be.
