Weekend Update

1. Sharing a sale pick today – this cropped alpaca cardigan, from Theory. It is $132 and so useful well into spring.

Almost sold out in both colors at Neiman Marcus at a higher price but available in all sizes in both sizes at a cheaper price at Saks; why do I think this happens quite often? What’s going on? I loved the cropped length and the thin ribbing. One of those very practical pieces.

2. A fascinating article, via the WSJ, about how Amazon is remaking the rules of publishing. I have a lot of feelings about this and if you buy me a few drinks I will go on until you are bored to tears but I will say that as an author I both love and loathe Amazon, and I think this is a fairly common opinion.

3. A cute and short little article from The Cut, about a Rent the Runway coat that husbands seem to loathe. I really like it! I see the appeal.

4. A gossipy piece, via the Guardian, on what it’s like to be a chauffeur for the rich and famous.

5. This week, I finished My Ex-Life, by Stephen McCauley.

In short, I really adored this book – about two ex-spouses who may or may not discover a new life, back together. The way I describe it probably sounds so trite but it really isn’t – the book is witty, so well written, and incredibly clever. Reminds me a lot in tone of Standard Deviation– another favorite which I’d recommended earlier. I highly recommend My Ex-Life.
