Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – My Picks

I know, I’m very sorry. If you read any blogs or subscribe to Instagram you already know the Nordstrom sale is on. You have been reminded of it as if were a great national holiday. You have my apologies if this is repetitive. To be honest I didn’t plan on doing a post this year or shopping the sale much, I get fatigue and they all start to look the same, but then I started browsing and got sucked in. I have to say that Nordstrom does a great job, I admire their assortment even from a product roadmap perspective…what are the planning meetings like to get this done?

Some of my picks are below  – I really tried to find only the pieces that I liked that I thought were genuinely a good deal, that aren’t just “sale goggle” related, that I don’t think will be there at 60% off in the fall when Nordstrom puts them on sale again and then cuts them a second time. Onward!

I paid full price for my gray version of these. These jeans are awesome. No regrets even at full price. Perfection. And when Madewell has a coupon code, they often exclude denim (which is why I paid full). Excellent value.

Comfortable, chic. I’m out and proud with my love for Eileen. This poncho looks sleek and comfortable and I love the different ribbed textures. To be honest this is the sort of item that might make it to sale later on but I think it would sell out at the same price as the Nordstrom anniversary price, so why not get it now?

This DVF wrap dress is cashmere! And $266, a fantastic price, which is probably why it’s all currently sold out. I have it on good authority that it will restock. A ton of stuff will restock once the sale opens to the public later this week.

Another piece of denim denim! There’s just something about the pocket placement, cuff, silhouette of this that I love. Awesome but kind of pricey even on sale. But I really also like Frame denim, so I included…but not a must buy unless you are a denim connoisseur.

Yes it’s kind of a knockoff of the Ganni but I’ve tried so many times to get myself to buy the Ganni and it’s just a little too extra for me. This version from Topshop is perfect and a little more toned down – the colors, the material, the balloon sleeve. And the price!

You know what’s funny – I swear these were on the Madewell site but I went to go look, curious to see how the company would deal with having an item on sale at Nordstrom but not on it’s own site, and it was gone! I think these booties are going to reappear after the Anniversary sale is over. Nice price and I find Madewell shoes quite comfortable, on the Everlane level of quality/comfort.

Such an easy and versatile tote. Ugh! Sometimes seeing such a wonderful tote with nice features (this one has a zip pocket, my biggest beef with the normal Longchamp totes) makes me wonder why I need to pay so much more for Hermes. I know this isn’t a question I should ask myself for my sanity yet I do. It’s perfect and fits a laptop.

I think candles and cosmetics are some of the best deals during Anniversary, honestly. Like the Simpatico ones above. I hadn’t even heard of this brand but once I saw it I knew I wanted to order at least one to try out. The dimpled glass! I’m really tempted by the colorful versions but also think the white flower looks great with other Diptyque candles.

Speaking of Diptyque, I love this candle set. It has all the favorite scents and is the perfect price point for gifting. In fact I’m sending a few of these as gifts very soon.

More candle sets from Voluspa: this vermeil mini tin ($26), pretty two-wick tin candles ($29)

This is always the best deal EVER on Revitalash. The most irritating thing is it can’t be shipped to California. WHY!

I’m not a huge makeup person but even I know that you need decent brushes and Sigma makes some of the best ones at a reasonable price as well. At the Anniversary price these are getting into Sonia Kashuk territory (another good affordable brush maker).

More picks: the classic Monica Vinader Fiji chain bracelet in all three colors, the ubiquitous Barefoot Dreams circle cardigan (it is a staple in my household), and a sleek sweater dress from Leith (under $50)!

As a high end makeup and brush lover I was very pleasantly surprised by Morphe brushes; they’re well made and produce a beautiful result.

Is this leather Le Pliage (with the longer strap drop) normally available or a Nordstrom exclusive? I’ve been wanting the Le Pliage in leather, but all I’d seen (admittedly I haven’t looked all that hard) were with short handles plus long (crossbody) strap. I was pleasantly surprised to see it when I checked Nordstrom — and on sale too! I ordered the black, but would have preferred a different color.

I think it’s a Nordstrom exclusive! They also had red and navy from what I recall. Let me know how you like it! I’m probably going to order as well.
