Favorite Travel and Big Tote Accessories

Today I thought I would share some of my favorite travel accessories. I’ve had quite a few requests for this post and even though I haven’t traveled anywhere for a while and in fact feel quite like a prisoner, I’ve discovered a few great items so thought it was time to share. Plus, a lot of these items are also great in a big tote, or diaper bag, and like I said…I really do have a few new favorites. Let’s go!

Silicon travel tubes. This has been my newest and greatest discovery. Do you have a lotion/cream/shampoo that you love that you have been trying to find a travel size of, or painstakingly squeezing into the tiny hole of some stolen hotel container? And then you get to your destination and something has leaked everywhere but you can’t quite figure what is what? These are for you. I’m obsessed with them. Super easy to use, never leak, big opening so you can easily get your toiletries in, easy to clean. I bought 2, and then 4 more because I was worried they would one day be discontinued.

These come in two sizes (mine are the smaller). I’ve even put oils in mine, with no leaking. LOVE!

LeSportsac pouches. If you need just one zip pouch in your tote, I’d probably recommend LeSportsac, and especially the one I have above – the triple zip, which fits all sorts of misc items. I really love LeSportsac and sometimes wonder if I’m the only one, but then I go to Hawaii and see it a lot. Excellent, affordable, tons of options, adorable collaborations.

Pod holder. Are you ready for this one? I’m really excited about it, I feel like it’s my personal discovery and I feel very clever for having found this one. These pacifier holders are great for yes, pacifiers, but also tons of other things (so don’t click away yet, my well dressed childless friends). I use mine for everything ranging from keys, to headphones, to misc hair ties and more. A great small size for bags and anyone looking for a “little” useful pouch. And only $12.

Cashmere blanket. I know this sort of item is kind of the opposite of the pod holder above; aka not that practical and quite expensive, but I really have a thing from this Chinti & Parker one. I was waiting and waiting to get it during markdown and it stayed full price. Why didn’t it go on sale? It’s been MONTHS! Will it ever?

Packing cubes. I have three sets of these. OK they aren’t the most beautiful but you will be hard pressed to find any better option that’s better designed and at such a great price. I passed by a knitting store yesterday and they had these nice looking colorful mesh pouches (anyone who has flown United for a while, they were kind of like the mesh ones they used to give out in business class before they stopped, much to my chagrin). Anyway, they had these packs of 3 pouches and I thought they looked good as a packing option so I went in and then found out they were $78. What! I admit I was in a bougie city but still. So I scuttled away and really what did I need those for? I already have some great ones.

Amazon also makes a version, by the way.

What are your favorite travel/packing/big tote accessories?

I’ll have to try the silicon travel tubes. They look like you’ll be able to squeeze out most of the product. Most plastic tubes are so rigid!

Thank you for sharing the travel tube! It’s so cute. I just checked Sephora and they have a wanderlust set of it with 2 small and 1 large tube in a case on sale for $12!

The packing cubes look amazing! I have a variety of sport sac accessories and I LOVE them! As for shawls, I always carry several in my carry on because my children always promise that they wont be cold on the plane and they always are. So they both end up wrapped in whatever shawls I have with me. They look hilarious 🙂

Oooh I have a weakness for pouches, especially the flat ones. I can’t have a bag without little pouches inside – there’s no way I’d find anything! For my travel tote, I use Truffle zip cases (the flat ones with leather trim) – they look very polished and since they are flat, they are easy to locate and pull out of a tote. I just want more sizes and more colors. 🙂

By the way, I’d love to know if you particularly recommend any travel totes. I use very simple ones – like a Muji parachute fabric one but would love a more polished option. Also it seems very few totes fit United’s “personal item” measurement!

I love this travel tray: https://www.tombihn.com/collections/accessories/products/travel-tray?variant=33791334599 . It’s great to corral small items on your bedside table (like rings, earrings, and glasses) and not worry about them rolling off the table. I use it as a stuff sack to store chargers while I’m in transit, then dump the chargers out and switch it to tray mode when I get the hotel. The brand, Tom Bihn, makes great quality stuff, although pricey.

thank you for sharing this! Just what I wished existed for my bedside table when traveling, and it looks like they have many other great products as well. Anything else you’d suggest from their line?

Kat- you need (!!!) to try the Muji pump dispensers for traveling. I bought a small one for my facewash when traveling and loved it so much, I decanted my full size bottle at home into the tall pump bottle. They also look nice and tidy in my medicine cabinet vs the misc. containers I normally keep there. I also recently purchased the Muji squeeze tubes for travel shampoo and conditioner, which have been good so far but they don’t hold as much as I’d like. I used to pay $7 for these silicone squeeze tubes similar to the one you found on Sephora but after a few drops (I’m clumsy in the shower) the cap cracked and I’ve had a few leaks. Excuse my excitement, I only recently discovered all this stuff and have been spreading the word 🙂

I oscillate between Muji travel containers and the ones from Daiso (if you can find them!) but I am liking the idea of the silicon tubes since it is a perpetual pain to decant partially empty travel containers, i tis a pain to wash them out and dry them so more often than not, I just toss them – that’s where the Daiso ones comes in very handy. If I am in HK, I like the inexpensive travel containers from Sasa or Bonjour as well. For packing cubes, I use Muji ones but I find that quality has deteriorated over the years, they are flimsy and fray easily. This last trip to Tokyo, I bought a variety of packing cubes from Loft in different colors and printed ones whenever I come across them (Tokyo Station, Sanrio, Swimmer etc.,) I like to have different colors so that I know whose clothes are in there without having to unzip each one to check for contents. I do like Muji’s travel toiletries bag and pouches, really convenient for travel. After all the above, I sense a common theme – Muji! They are great for for travel accessories! I do get cute pouches whenever I see them – from Sanrio or Swimmer mostly.

Love your snoopy lesportsac pouch! I love lesportsac pouches but always miss out on the cute ones cos they sell out to fast!

Love muji containers for travelling especially the pump dispenser versions. They are make of pet which I read doesn’t have any chemical reactions with the oils in the skincare.

I love Agnes B for travel handbags. They are really light and you can stuff a lot inside.

I bought a bunch of these from Tokyo back in December and love the sizes, depth and structure of these. Found them online and they are much cheaper than what I paid for in Japan! https://nalaiandco.com/products/travel-luggage-organizer
