Weekend Update

1. Sharing today the prettiest white eyelet dress, from Madewell. I always feel that Madewell does at least one very pretty feminine dress each season, and I basically stalk their site sporadically until I find it. Here it is!

A reasonable length, pretty tie shoulder straps, not too cheapie of a lace print, natural fibers (cotton) – what else can we ask for? This will likely be the next white dress I add to my closet.

Also, I absolutely LOVE this black eyelet dress from Rebecca Taylor, but I kind of feel like it’s a “wait for sale” kind of piece. Agh!

2. A fun article, via The NY Times, about doing laundry during fashion week that has implications for general travel as well. Do you ever do laundry abroad? I really hate the hotel prices too (but have given in on multiple occasions when I really just needed one item for later in the week, and there was some kind of unanticipated spillage).

3. My favorite article of the week comes via The New Yorker, about China’s Mistress Dispellers. I have to admit, my favorite is the lady who teaches women how to beat up their husband’s mistresses (but why not the husband’s themselves?)

4. An excellent piece, via The NY Times, about the final hours behind Travis Kalanick’s resignation from Uber. A lot of interesting gossip that I hadn’t read before.

5. This week I finished Waking Lions, by Ayelet Gundar-Goshen.

Waking Lions is set in Beersheeba, Israel, which honestly would probably have been enough for me to read the book – I don’t feel like I come across enough fiction set in the region (and would love recommendations!). Add a story of extortion, refugees, and a blackmailed neurosurgeon – and I’m in! That being said, this isn’t necessarily a super fast paced thriller – it’s more a beautifully written story, going back and forth amongst various communities in Beersheeba. Recommended!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Just tried the Madewell dress on yesterday! I didn’t love it on me, which I chalk up to my slow warm-up to cold shoulder styles. Having seen it in person, I can vouch for the super pretty, good quality lace and overall feel of the dress. Maybe I should try it on again! 😉
    Have a lovely weekend!
