A Few More Shoes

Today I’m sharing a few shoes I recently added which I’d recommend.

First up: the Gucci Brixton Loafer, $630. I’d received a few requests to review my Gucci loafers, so here they are! I’d gone through a few different pairs of Gucci loafers before settling on the Brixton style, which I found the best fit for my foot. I also love the flexible back, which means you can push the heel down, and make them more of a mule. I usually don’t wear them like this, but sometimes if I’m lazy and sitting somewhere for a while, I’ll wear them more of the slipper/mule style.

The leather of these loafers is super soft…I can’t imagine anyone not finding them comfortable. I’d also note that the vamp is quite long. If you have high arches you might have difficulty getting your foot in at first, but luckily the soft leather makes it easier, and after a while its as natural as any other shoe. Highly recommended (and this style comes in lots of fun colors as well, which is a bonus).

Also note that I originally purchased this pair from Net-A-Porter, which are quite similar in look and style, however the leather was more stiff and due to the long vamp, I found them difficult to slide on quickly. I also found that they ran about 1/4th a size larger than the Brixtons, or very similarly to my Marmont pumps.  They are a more “sturdy” leather however, less supple than the soft lamb of the Brixton, and probably less prone to stretching as well.

My loafers, compared against the Marmont pumps. Please note again that I found the Brixtons to run just a tad smaller than the Marmonts. I took my true size for both, but with the Marmonts, I have a tiny bit more room. These are my two favorite pairs of shoes right now!

Birkenstock Arizonas. I’ve reviewed the Arizonas before, but I recently decided to refresh my ratty old pair. I was happy to see that the black on black Birkoflor was now available with a soft footbed, and immediately ordered! I think this is a great versatile pair of Arizonas and an ideal choice for an “Arizona beginner”, especially with the padded footbed. I think the regular footbed of the Arizona can get some getting used to, and there’s a much longer break in period.

I took my normal size 37 narrow, it just fits. I could have also taken the wide, but my foot sloshes around too much I’ve found.

As you can see, I’ve been quite boring with the footwear recently, and am in need of inspiration. What shoes have you added lately? I’d love some ideas!

I recently picked up a pair of Poppy Barley Feminine Slippers in Taupe and Heeled Chelsea Boots in Toffee. They’re a local (to me) company that started out offering custom boots to accommodate different calf and foot size configurations a couple years ago. They’ve since branched out into short boots, flats, men’s footwear and bags.

Awww. pilgrim Gucci shoes so cuuuuuute!
I take size 9 US, but everything mule/loafer looks atrociously long on my feet. Except the Everlane loafers. Not sure why. Those Brixtons give me sighs, though…
Recently bought the Birkenstock Pisa in black Birkoflor. LOVE. THEM.

This is a helpful post Katherine. I would like to purchase a Gucci Peyton Pearl do you think it has the same level of comfort with Marmont? I find it the cutest among the loafers so it would be nice if the comfort would go along with the looks too 🙂

I recently purchased the Tanja loafer by Rag and Bone. I got them from Barney’s Warehouse. I love buying shoes from there. On the more affordable side, GH Bass make really cute loafers in different colors, such as Kelly green. They also have nice high heeled loafers. I love your Guccis!

Katherine! I love my Gucci Driving loafers, and recently bought the Marmont flats expecting similar comfort. They are so darn uncomfortable! I had to put a bunch of little shoe pads in them to make them work. I guess I was spoiled by my loafers. The Marmonts are SO cute though! Worth the pain. 😉 The Brixtons come in great colors. I may try them next.

Oh no! I would try out the ones with the lower heel, for some reason I find them even more comfortable than the flats.
