Beauty Favorites – Fall 2016

Today I’m sharing some recent beauty favorites. I’d love to hear yours, especially as the Sephora sale is getting underway! I’ve been on a makeup kick lately, and welcome new beauty recommendations!

beauty-favorites

Chanel Rouge Allure Color Shine: I have to admit that it was the cool tube that drew me in on this one. It’s so sleek and seamless, just press down on the gold top and the applicator pops up! I bought 157, Super Coral, a very pretty corally pink on the lips. A fabulous combination of shine, color, and staying power.

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil: I’ve been a fan of MAC’s Lingering for years, but tried this out as part of a set earlier this year. I love the waxier consistency which makes it easier to groom brows, and the brush on the other end is handy. However, nearly double the price of MAC (with similar lifespan), but I love the color, so I’ll probably keep buying. I use Soft Brunette, by the way.

NARS Nail Polish in Chinatown: One of favorite darker red nail polish colors – the closest I’ve been able to find to my discontinued favorite of all time, Opi for Sephora’s Mr. Right Now. A true classic and my husband’s favorite! He always compliments when I wear it.

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion: I know I mentioned this one in an earlier post, but I still love it! The more I try out other cushion compacts, the more I realize how excellent this one is.

Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Lipcolor: My favorite lipstick right now, moisturizing and with great color payoff. I love the classic tube. The color I use is 434, Mademoiselle, a beautiful pinky neutral which I think would be flattering on most.

Oo, that reminds me I want to try the Sulwhasoo compact from your last post! I’ve been on a little beauty kick lately too and loving Dr. Jart’s BB which offers just a little bit of coverage but really makes a difference. Shiseido is my standby for moisturizer and eye cream and I recently switched from their sunscreen to La Rose-Posay for daily wear, which absorbs nicely.

I love getting new beauty ideas and you have definitely given me a few! I adore Chanel’s lip colors/glosses–they are the best.

I love Hourglass’ Ambient Lightning Powder! I use the Etheral Lightning one to set my undereye after concealer and find that it slightly highlights and my skin looks very good! But I have very fair skinned though, my friends who are darker skinned likes using them as highlighter.

This is such a random question, but I swear that you were the first source to come to mind when trying to figure this out. I’m looking to purchase a Burberry coat while I’m here in London, but I’m very confused on the VAT refund. Have you done this before? What is the process? I can’t figure out if you get the refund before you check in, after you check in? Apparently you need a customs stamp, but no clue where you get it. Any tips you can provide on VAT refund at Heathrow, if you’ve ever done it, would be SO appreciated!

Have you tried the Iope cushion compact? Made by the same company as Sulwhasoo, cheaper and I suspect exactly the same product in slightly different packaging.

Good recommendation, thank you! I’ll try this one next as the Sulwhasoo is pricey!
