Today I’m sharing a few items that I recently picked up – dresses from Madewell and a few booties from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.
I’ve been loving Madewell lately, though I typically order from Nordstrom as they offer free shipping and returns (Madewell charges for returns). This embroidered dress has great reviews on the Madewell site, so I decided to give it a try!
After receiving the dress, I can see why it has such good reviews – it’s a wonderful, light summer dress which would also be appropriate for work, lengthwise. The white is also completely lined and not see through, which unfortunately I’ve been finding is a rarity these days – even for dresses with a lining!
I didn’t end up keeping this one as it was a little loose for me (I have on a 00 here) – but snapped this picture to share. I think it’d be a great summer dress for someone taller, or someone looking for a more modest summer dress.
This is the Madewell dress that I did end up keeping – I’ve probably ordered close to five or ten striped dresses this year, trying to find the perfect summery version, and this was the winner. I love the deep v-neck, the dolman sleeves, and the mid weight fabric – with a jacket, it’d easily go into fall. The length and little side slits are good for shorties, too! I took a size XXS – it’s definitely the kind of dress where you could easily size down, especially if you prefer a fitted look.
As some of you may have noticed in my outfit posts, I’ve been wearing these Sole Society shoes a ton – they’re just easy to pair with everything, and the heel is quite wearable. I’d been looking for a fall equivalent – some kind of flat bootie that I’d be able to wear with jeans and dresses. I actually found two great ones, both from the Anniversary sale. It’s been too warm to wear them out, but I snapped a few photos of them on.
The first are these Vince Camuto booties.
I’d given up on the idea of ankle booties for the longest time due to my short frame, until I started seeing this style, with the deep slits on the side. And now I love them! The slit shows more ankle on the side, definitely lengthening the leg line, and I also love how easy they are to slip on – I don’t even have to use the zipper on the back, really. You can’t really wear socks with these, unless they are super low, but I personally would prefer to go barefoot anyways. I love that with the open cutout pattern you can wear these even in warmer weather. These Vince Camutos are also very comfortable as well, and easy to walk in due to the low heel. Here’s a picture of the booties paired with cropped jeans.
I also picked up these Lucky booties, and they are incredibly comfortable – I have good luck with Lucky shoes in general, and they’re my go to brand for inexpensive, comfortable shoes. They also have the deep v slits on the side that I loved on the Vince Camutos, and are even a little easier to get into – no zipper at all, just deeper side cuts. They’re very similar to the Vince Camutos in many ways – open/perforated cutouts, low stacked heel, and quite comfortable. The color I’m wearing here is the “Brindle” color – a taupe/gray. I think these are difficult to get – I keep trying to order more colors, but they’re always sold out! Did any of you pick of these booties (or any others)?

August 1, 2016 at 11:00 amI purchased the Vince Camuto Tarita sandals a while back based on your recommendation. They are technically a sandal but I think they are sort of a sandal/bootie hybrid…perfect for the transition into fall. I always enjoy your picks and your CDC bracelet looks great too.

August 1, 2016 at 3:59 pmLove your choices! I bought the Vince Camuto bootie as well — in black. Now I’m trying to get my hands on them in the taupe color you bought, because I love them so much! Alas, Nordstrom is having a heck of a time keeping them stocked. I’ll keep trying. 🙂

August 1, 2016 at 4:00 pmAlso wanted to add that my Nordstrom salesperson told me that these were THE booties of the sale. No wonder they are hard to get!

August 1, 2016 at 8:36 pmThat makes sense…these were pretty hard to get, but I have to say that the Lucky were even more difficult!
