Bag Review – The Gucci Soho Disco

I shared a little peek of this bag last week, and received quite a few questions so I rushed out this post! So today I’ll be reviewing a little bag which I’ve been eyeing for literally years and finally jumped the gun on – the Gucci Soho Disco.

I first saw the Soho Disco in 2013, and heard a ton of great feedback on the bag. Friends said it was super light, easy to carry, fit a nice amount of items, oh and…was reasonably priced (around $900 at the time…it’s since gone up another $100). I was very tempted but to be honest, had a hard time getting over the large interlocking “GG” logo in the front…I’m not a huge logo person.

Having a baby however, has made me into the world’s pickiest and most ardent consumers of crossbody bags. Seriously! So I finally caved and got the Soho…and it’s a great little bag, one of the best crossbody options out there in my opinion.

I was tempted by quite a few colors, but ended up with the classic rose beige version (Gucci’s version of tan/camel). It’s one of the staple colors which Gucci brings out season after season. It currently seems to be sold out online, but I’ll update the links as the fall inventory starts rolling in.

The rose beige color is a great neutral, and also I felt that the “GG” logos were a bit more subdued on it versus other colors I had considered. And of course I love the tassel detail – it makes the bag!

Gucci Soho Disco Interior Pocket

The inside of the Soho Disco is fabric lined, with two interior pockets. The fact that the bag is lined with cloth, and not leather is what helps make it so lightweight – it comes in at under a pound.

As for what fits inside – it’s a handy amount! The Disco fits a deceptively large quantity.

Gucci Soho Disco What Fits Inside

What’s shown above is what I can get into the Disco easily (but it’s quite full at that stage). All of your daily basics…as you can see, its small size is quite deceptive!

A summary of some of the questions I received – if you have any more, please leave in the comments and I’ll try to answer. If you have any experience with this bag as well, please share!

What colors does it come in? Permanent colors include black, navy, red, and rose beige (the color I purchased). These do not go on sale. The other colors may go on sale at the end of each season – Gucci usually has at least 2-3 colors on sale.

Weight and dimensions? A smidgen under 1 pound, (0.9 pounds). H x L x W = 16cm x 8cm x 21cm. Strap length goes from 121cm to 132cm.

Where can I purchase the Soho Disco?

Saks: Multiple colors, including classics

Net-A-Porter: Red, a lovely powder pink I haven’t seen elsewhere, and a multi-color version.

Neiman Marcus: Black, winter white, red, golden, navy blue.

Selfridges: In multiple colors, currently just $800 due to the weak pound!

Is the strap adjustable? Yes you can adjust it to wear on your shoulder or crossbody. If you need more holes punched in the strap to make it even shorter, a Gucci store can punch the holes for you.

Hi… I have the black Disco bag and love it. I was deciding between black and rose beige but I found the black (and red) in stock at Selfridge’s for $780 USD. Selfridge’s waives the VAT for US shoppers, and if your order is under $800, you will not pay duty or taxes. There is a $40 shipping charge but you will receive your bag 2-3 days later even on the west coast. Now I want the rose beige more than ever!! Yours is gorgeous!

This is a very informative review. I was thinking whether to get this or the top handle bag last year and ended up with the top handle because it’s bigger and I can use it for work. It’s also very lightweight which is what I like most of all and the leather is so soft.

Thanks for your review!! I’m looking for a good crossbody bag for everyday use that is secure enough to be used for travel. I think this might be the one! Since the rose beige is not a dark coloured purse, have you experienced any colour transfer onto the bag?

    Thank you!

I am in love with this bag and want it in the rose beige but haven’t heard any reviews talking about colour transfer from jeans. Has anyone experienced colour transfer?

I just ordered the beige Soho disco bag. Is there a small wallet to match the rose beige bag?? Or if there is a checkbook size one, would that fit?? Thank you.
