Wearing: The ’90s Dress

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite recent purchases, this great light summer dress, from ASTR. When I saw this dress, I was instantly drawn to it – the silhouette, the easy light fabric, and the button down front – all perfect for spring/summer, and the perfect shade of khaki. Its style reminded me a bit of the ’90s (and in fact the website describes it as ’90s inspired), but not overly so…I don’t feel like a tribute to Empire Records while wearing it, at least!

I ended up paying full price for the dress since it was decently priced (under $100) and kept going in and out stock. I’ve worn this dress a few times already since getting it, and like it so much that I’d like to share. It’s quite versatile and can be styled in a variety of ways. Here’s the dress, casually worn during the day.

The dress is a little short on me, so I’ve been wearing it with my trusty low block heeled Ferragamo Varas to balance out the higher hem. Its definitely the kind of dress that shows off your accessories, so I love wearing multiple necklaces or bracelets with it. It also runs a bit small in my experience – I’m wearing a size small, and it fits perfectly.

Even though I’ve been wearing the dress with flats, it also works with with heels.

I normally wouldn’t wear a light summer dress out in the evening before summer hits, but for some reason I felt like this dress still worked with a leather jacket, and some lace up booties. I bought this Balenciaga leather jacket to wear over sweaters, so it’s a bit loose with just a dress (and looking at the my photo, I’ve realized I need to get the arms shortened as well). I’ve love to one day get this Acne version, which is cropped with shorter sleeves, and would look better with dresses. Isn’t it funny how finding one item you really love, sometimes to leads to wanting another? Oy!

This has nothing to do with your post, but so happy to see the use of apostrophe in an abbreviated decade used properly. #grammarnazi

Love your NK sandals. They look so good on you. I wasn’t as impressed by the shoes last time when you posted the shoes only. Or maybe it’s the match between your black leather jacket and sandals that made them stand out more.

The heels which apparently sold out look really nice. The dress looks good on you, you match it well with the leather jacket and those shoes 🙂
