Happy 2016! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s celebration. For the first time in awhile, we stayed at home and I’m not ashamed to say that I believe we were sound asleep by the time the clock hit midnight in California (we celebrated East Coast time, at least). Such is the first year with a newborn.
1. I’ve been continuing my sale rampage this year, and have been finding stellar basics at great discounts (60% off), like this silk Equipment dress (yes, leopard is a basic!).
I’ve had great luck with all of my silk Equipment dresses – they’ve all been worn quite a bit, and the brand alsways has great prints. The one I linked is 60% off at The Outnet, but if you want a better return policy, it’s also available at Nordstrom and you can ask for a price match.
2. For those following the ongoing Theranos controversy, the WSJ had another great article (slash essential takedown) of the company – At Theranos, Many Strategies and Snags. I’d love to hear your opinions on this article, especially if you work in the medical industry!
3. I’m very excited to share this video, which I absolutely loved – Inside the Wardrobe of the Vogue (British) Fashion Editors.
Vogue did a great job with picking two editors with very different styles. I relate more to Sarah Harris more for my personal style, but Bay Garnett is just so cool and relatable too (and how cool is her thrifted banana shirt story?). When I first saw that this video was from Vogue, I was expecting a lot of crazy expensive clothing and the closets like Carrie’s from Sex and the City (the movie, not the show). So it was a pleasant surprise to see some (still fabulous) closets, but closer to reality.
4. This week I’m reading the new release by one of my favorite authors – Dennis Lehane – World Gone By.
I’ve read the entire Joe Coughlin series (The Given Day, and then Live By Night), and World Gone By – the final installment – is the best one yet. I recommend the entire series for fans of fiction in general, and especially fans of any of Lehane’s prior works – I’d rank World Gone By with the best of them!
How were your New Year’s celebrations?
