Weekend Update

Happy Thanksgiving weekend (for those of you celebrating in the States)! I had a great holiday with friends and family, and plus it was baby Feather’s first Thanksgiving! I ate more than my fair share of cheesecake. How was your holiday?

1. I have to admit that I’ve been having a pretty good time with all of the Black Friday sales going on. There’s just so much great stuff this year. A few of my picks so far, going clockwise, from all over the web…yup, I’ve been spending a good amount of time browsing the sales!

Sale 2

From left to right…

Barbour Calvary Jacket, under $100 (until 11/30). A classic, easy jacket from one of my favorite outerwear brands. Layer under a heavier outer layer for winter, or wear it by itself in spring/fall. Great price too.

Smythson Notebook, $56. I love these notebooks – not only are they leather bound, but the paper quality is fantastic. Super thin, yet ink doesn’t run through. They’re still a luxury even on sale but I try to stock up when they do go on discount to save a bit.

Jill Stuart Dress, $351 (with code GOBIG15). I adore this dress – its classic and flirty and I love, love the hem (the side view with the little slits!). The long sleeves are a nice feature for wearing to winter/holiday parties, too.

Ugg Brett Slippers, $64. We have cold floors, so I’m picky about slippers and always buy nicer ones, These are fantastic – a sturdy rubber sole so no slipping, suede exterior, and that super plush Ugg lining. I’m getting these to wear all winter.

Ray-Ban High Street Sunglasses, $105. Currently 30% off – one of the best discounts on Ray-Ban that I’ve seen, and this is a great style which I’ve tried on a few times. And flattering for a lot of different face shapes!

Sale 1

Yes, more sale picks! Again, from left to right…

Black Halo Sonnet Floral Sheath, $234. The cut of this dress is so flattering and I think it looks a lot more expensive (think Dolce, sexy Erdem) than it is. Lovely!

Tod’s Suede Loafers, $273. I have always loved Tod’s classic loafers and especially in suede – they’re just so comfortable. By the way, Net-A-Porter has the best discount on these I’ve found, with many styles up to 50% off (other places are up to 40%). Keep checking back if your size is out of stock.

Stella McCartney Falabella Crossbody, now $750. My favorite bag style from Stella, and I love the embellished version she does on it each season. This one is lovely and would match with all different types of jewelry – rose, yellow, or silver!

Burberry Croasdale Leopard Coat, $1800. At this price this coat is 40% off – but still expensive – but also gorgeous! A classic leopard coat is still missing from my wardrobe and this would nicely fill the gap.

Aquatalia Garcelle Foldover Boot, $313. These are currently 55% off until 11/30. These are one of the best over the knee flat boots I’ve seen, and I’ve been stalking for my size to come back in stock.

2. I think Barbara Taylor Bradford is one of the coolest ladies out there, with one of the best closets. So I really enjoyed this little peek into her jewelry wardrobe (complete with some photos of her fantastic collection), via The NY Times. Oh, to have even a fraction of that Verdura collection!

3. An interesting article about the state of retail and especially relevant given the holiday sale season, via BoF – Does Anyone Expect To Pay Full Price Anymore? I’m curious to hear your thoughts! Do you pay full retail? I know that I still do…especially at Hermes, ha!

4. Reading – no new recommendations this week, I’ve been bad and spent my time doing some online shopping instead! However, I do have to update that I finished The Orphan Master’s Son, which I mentioned I was reading last week, and I have to upgrade my rating on this book. I loved it. Reminded me a bit of Cloud Atlas, for some reason.

Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!
