Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access – My Selections

Each year, when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale comes rolling around, I get quite excited, but usually end up keeping only 3-5 items from what starts as a gargantuan list. This year, I thought I might take a break from the sale, but the catalogs I received all seem to have some really tempting items. Early Access started today for Nordstrom cardholders, and so here are some of my top picks. I tried to be extra selective this year, and only choose items that I thought were a) unique and a good value, b) truly a real “sale” versus just a cheaper item marked up, and c) unlikely to go on further discount (which sometimes happens with the less popular Anniversary sale goodies). I hope you find this helpful, and please share your picks as well!

Longchamp Chloe Nordstrom

1. (Left side) Longchamp “Le Pliage Cuir” leather tote: $355 ($530 after sale). Exactly as it sounds – the all leather version of Longchamp’s classic Le Pliage nylon tote. A great streamlined leather tote that you can take to work or use casually. Plus unlike the nylon version, the Cuir has a zip pocket inside, and interior wall pockets too.

Comes in camel, cherry, and black.

2. (Right side) Chloe “Marcie” leather tote: $1370 ($1900 after sale). I very rarely will ever advise this, but since Nordstrom has a fabulous return policy – if you are in the market for a versatile leather tote and you’re interested in this but kind of on the fence, I’d still pull the trigger now. Worst case, you can return later. I’ve noticed that the “Marcie” totes tend to sell out very early – I always get emails each year about them. They pop in and out of stock, but in the very beginning why not take advantage of all the colors and inventory?

Gorgeous tote, fits a ton, classic colors like black, gray, camel, blue, and pink.

Nordstrom Longchamp

3. Longchamp Expandable Tote: $130 ($200 full price). I got such great feedback on a past sale PSA on Longchamp totes that I had to include this Longchamp too. This expandable tote is usually included in each year’s sale, and always sells out fast. I tried to arrange the pictures so you could see exactly how the tote works, and how large it is.

Navy and blue are here, and there’s a separate link for red and a brighter medium blue.

Barbour Nordstrom

4. Barbour “Brocklane” waterproof quilted jacket: $230 ($350 after sale). I adore my Barbour jacket, and Mr. Feather loves his too. They are one of the best outerwear values out there, and when they say they’re waterproof – they really mean it. The original waxed cotton versions (you can find “the Badminton” on sale here) can sometimes feel too stiff to those new to Barbour, so I always recommended a softer version like the Brocklane above. This navy combo is classic, and I love the removable hood.

Nordstrom MaxMara

5. Max Mara reversible double faced wrap: $600 ($1000 full price). This is so gorgeous and versatile. You can buy it and you’ll wear it for the rest of your life. It can be used as a regular piece of outerwear, as a cape, shawl, over formal dresses and casual jeans and tee. It can be an airplane blanket. I absolutely adore my Max Mara camel coat and the Anniversary sale price is wonderful. I wouldn’t expect this to last long.

Nordstrom Zella Barefoot Dreams

6. Barefoot Dreams Drape Front cardigan: $61 ($92 full price). I snagged one of these during last year’s sale and kind of thought it was a bunch of hype. But hey – it was pretty inexpensive, so why not? Well….I buy into the hype. I basically wear mine constantly around the house, it’s like a more chic robe that you can also wear outside, on the plane, etc. I’ve washed mine a bunch of times and it still looks great. I’m picking up either the navy or oatmeal stripe this year. Sizing wise, I took the small/medium and it’s fine!

By the way, this is another item which if you’re on the fence about, I’d recommend snapping up right away and then deciding later!

7. Zella “Live In” Leggings: $34 ($52 full price). I buy 1-2 pairs each and ever sale. My favorite black leggings ever. I will buy forever.

Nordstrom Chanel NEST2

8. Chanel Travel Makeup Palette, $95. Under $100 for anything from Chanel is a steal. A basic eyeshadow quad from the brand is already $61 for goodness sake! I love the colors in this palette – it is truly great for travel, with versatile shades for day and night. Also would make a fabulous gift.

9. NEST Fragrances Classic Candle Duo, $50 ($64 full price). Two of my favorite NEST scents – Sicilian Tangerine and Grapefruit – together in this very well priced set. NEST candles are great quality and are some of my favorites. Another gift suggestion!

Bony Levy Ring

10. Bony Levy “Aurora” ring: $600 ($900 full price). I always have admired Bony Levy’s items in each sale, but this ring really attracted my attention. I just think it’s such a simple and versatile piece – yet sparkles like crazy and still makes a statement. Considering that Chanel costume jewelry is now easily past $1,000 for many pieces these days, I think a 18k gold ring with diamonds for $600 is a nice price, especially if you wear it all the time. Seriously, seriously considering!

Are you shopping Early Access? What are your selections?

I have had up to 11 items in my cart…narrowed down to just a few. I need underwear…I like Nordstrom’s brand of microfiber boy shorts…I’ll be getting rid of some of my oldest ones. I do need a new winter jacket….I’ve got 3 in my cart. I may just order them all and decide later. I like the one you show, but the sizes don’t accomodate those of us who need larger sizes. Darn!

That’s a good tip on the microfiber shorts! I’m going to try some out as well 🙂

They last forever! And…I decided to pull the trigger last night – ordered all 3 jackets – I’ll decide when they get here!

I hit it hard. I actually used a triple point day instead of sticking to the double points because of the purchase load.
La Mer Skincare collection. Early B-day present for my mom. GREAT price.
Trish McEvoy Power of brushes set. I like to replenish once a year and this set is half price.
Antica Farmacista in Ala Moana and Vanilla Bourbon.
North Face fleeces and winter coat for the girls and North Face mittens along with about 4 thin t-shirts in long and short sleeves for layering.
I got a Nic + Zoe woven cardigan and tank in blue.
A Red cropped sweater in red. (My NY resolution was to add color to my wardrobe)
And two beaded necklaces that were not on sale, but were just introduced today.
Oh…and AGL brougues that were totally not on sale but fit better than the on-sale Cole Haans or Kate Spades. Sometimes we just need to treat our feet.

That is totally what I would do too – add a triple points day 🙂 The NF fleeces are an awesome value, I picked one up for me and one for my husband too 🙂 Would love to see the necklaces!

I went a little crazy. Got the Longchamp le pilage cuir in carmel, aquatalina Sophie boot, a bunch of cute, under $100 work jackets, the zella leggings, Classiques Entier leather jacket, and a bunch of things for my baby. Pategonia vest, bunting, tutu dresses, headbands. I’ll probably end up returning half of these

    Dearest Katherine,

You are just dangerous, dangerous, dangerous! Just this morning my DH was telling me how we need to keep our budget in check and then I read this and I literally clicked on EVERY. SINGLE. LINK. OMG! 😛

Firstly, we have the EXACT same taste in fragrance, those two are my favorite scents from NEST! I was gifted a trio last holiday and it included those two and Lemongrass, but these two are my favorites! Oh that Grapefruit! 🙂

The Bony Levy ring looks very similar to the Pomellato Sabbia ring (save the difference in band detail). As for Chanel – true, considering you’re getting costume, but have you seen this new selection of their jewelry out for Salzburg? It’s sorta too cute….

Excellent post as usual as was your post on the Chanel jacket – I LOVE the jacket you chose!

Oh that Max Mara and Barefoot Dreams cardi are calling my name but I am trying to behave…I know it’s a good deal, but…exercising what little control I have left!

    Hope you’re doing well – it’s almost time isn’t it? 🙂

Sending you tons of good wishes for a fast and easy delivery!
    🙂

OMG. I have been thinking about the Sabbia for awhile now. Of course you’d know about it!! I was going to post that it reminded me of the Sabbia as a comment but figured nobody knew what it was! I hope you are having a great summer and some luck with the budget 🙂

I was so excited to see the drape front cardigan on your list. Been looking for something similar. But sadly I’m not seeing the sale price when I click on the link. 🙁

    Kat-

I need that ring! I’m smitten and now having internal debates about what finger (I’m pretty sure index) and which gold (rose or yellow?). Ack!

    Which one would you get?

OOF that’s a hard one because it really depends on your skintone. Do you wear more of rose vs yellow (or do you wear lots of white)? If mostly white/rose, I’d get rose. If yellow, then yellow! You can’t go wrong.

I ordered the Max Mara wrap. I love the idea of it and the look. I am on planes a lot and thought of it pulling double duty (wrap/blanket) is appealing. I don’t have a thing like it though and am intimidated! If you end up with it I’d love some pointers on how to style it. I’m afraid I’ll just panic and return if I can’t make it look like Nordstrom does!

I understand what you mean by wraps not looking like the picture. I think the trick is with ones like the Max Mara is to invest 5-10 minutes when you first get it in really trying out a bunch of ways to wear it. I’ll try to post a tutorial later (when not pregnant!) about how I wear my wraps, but in the meantime I’d experiment with brooches, and see how to wear it with dresses, pants, casual….I think it’s a great buy and a versatile one!

I caved into the Lafayette 148 New York Colorblock Wool Blend Drape Front Jacket. It somehow caught my eye in the presale tent. I usually don’t buy from the Studio section, but rather from Via C or Individualist sections. I hope it’s worth it.
