Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend.
I wanted to give you an update on how my pregnancy is going (those who have no interest in pregnancy or babies – and believe me I sympathize – feel free to click away now!). I’m into into my third trimester now, and though I’d like to say that it’s all flown by so fast, that isn’t exactly correct. I feel very fortunate that I haven’t had any terrible pregnancy symptoms or complications, but I’ve definitely been experiencing my fair share of aches and pains. At times, it feels like the day is crawling by at a snail’s pace, especially when I’m tired and having a difficult day at work. Some updates below.
1. I can no longer fit into most of my pre-pregnancy items. All those loose trapeze dresses that I had from Anthropologie that I was so confident would take through my entire pregnancy (they’re so loose! I have infinite room to grow!) are now too short in the front. I had no idea that my bump would be so big (and it’s still growing) or take up so much clothing space.
The items I bought after I got pregnant, including the Free People dress I’m wearing above (which I love, it’s my favorite item to wear), are all still good. But that’s because I specifically picked them up with stomach room in mind. I just bought a few more inexpensive dresses from Loft and Target that will hopefully take me through the rest of the way.
2. I now have to be careful when parking my car. I’m a very daring parker and absolutely loathe those selfish drivers who take up multiple spaces. I consider myself a bit of a vigilante (yup, lamest superhero ever) because I won’t hesitate to squeeze into a teeny space next to some idiot who wanted to protect their sports car by taking up two spots…especially if it’s the only one left. However, the other day I found myself trapped with my butt and stomach wedged between my car and an M5. Only a very strong desire to avoid public humiliation was able to summon the strength to propel me back into my vehicle, where I promptly drove off to a further spot, defeated. I don’t have great spatial skills and frequently bumped into walls with my shoulders when I wasn’t pregnant, so you can only imagine the difficulties I’m having now.
3. I am so….incredibly…..ITCHY! I was prepared (theoretically) for my skin stretching, for having to use moisturizer each night, but nobody told me I would be so itchy. I itchy all the time, and find myself scratching so often subconsciously that I feel as if I must look like one of those old time pirates suffering from lice. The best part of my day is changing out of my work clothes and into a huge baggy t-shirt dress that I wear at home. It’s an amazing feeling.
My saving graces? The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter (super moisturizing and I love, love the scent) and L’Occitane Extra Gentle bar soap. I hadn’t used bar soap for ages before (I’m a loofah plus body gel type of girl), but I bought the L’Occitane on the recommendation of our midwife, and it’s way more gentle on my skin. It seems to last quite a long time too.
Thanks to all of you for reading along, and also for all of your comments and emails about the pregnancy! I know that quite a few of you are expecting as well, so my best wishes to all of you!

May 18, 2015 at 10:41 amGlad you have the Body Butter. I slathered my belly in that exact one, even the same scent, when pregnant with both kids, and I have no stretch marks at all! I’m very excited for you and Mr. FF. It sounds like you will have a summer baby? Keep us posted on how you are feeling! xx

May 18, 2015 at 2:57 pmI like Josie Maran body butter. While I am not pregnant now, I understand the itchy body syndrome! It’s no fun at all. Hang in there, you must be getting very excited! Seeing your baby for the first time, nothing can compare!
Good luck and you need to have a lovely present picked out once the baby comes! A big fat nice piece of jewelry worked for me!!!

May 18, 2015 at 5:04 pmOh girl, believe it or not, the tummy will get bigger….soo much bigger, especially in the last month. I used the clairin tonic oil all over and I didn’t get one stretch mark! And theres no greasy feel to it, which I hate! Congrats on being in your 3rd trimester! Can’t wait to see your little darling!

May 20, 2015 at 10:25 pmI cannot believe it until I see it….thank you for the Clarins rec. You were one of the chicest pregnant women ever, loved seeing your fashions during 🙂

May 20, 2015 at 4:41 amI feel you!! Like someone else also said, the bump grows exponentially (or so it seems, anyway!) bigger towards the end. Biggest change for me is feeling crazy hot all the time. I haven’t used a blanket in like 2 months, which is saying a lot since I used to always be so cold. Hope the rest of the pregnancy is a breeze (: I hit full-term today, and can’t be more excited!

June 4, 2015 at 11:55 amYou may have PUPPS. I had the same itchiness all over my body and belly and thought it was eczema flaring up but I had PUPPS (cute name for a terrible skin affliction) and gave birth to a boy.
