The Hermes Kelly Pochette

I recently shared some of my Christmas goodies, which included an Hermes Kelly Pochette in Bleu Iris. I was really happy to add this clutch to my collection as I had been thinking about it for some time. Actually, I used to own one of these pochette bags years ago in black, but foolishly let it go (that’s a lesson from me to you – think long and hard before eliminating Hermes bags! It may be hard to add them back later on).

Anyway, I was thrilled to add this special item back to my closet and wanted to share some more about the Pochette for any of you considering this bag. I know that some of you have been requesting this post, and my apologies as I haven’t had time to put it all together before today!

Hermes Kelly Pochette Bleu

The Kelly Pochette has the same turnlock hardware as the regular Kelly, which means that there’s a wee bit of effort needed to open and close it, but you can also leave just the lock closed with the straps hanging under like you do with the regular Kelly. This is what I do.

Kelly Pochette Open

The little strap up top has some “give” and flexibility to stretch so that you can fit your hand underneath to hold by it’s top “handle”.

Hermes Kelly Pochette Back

The inside of the Pochette is just one large compartment, with a small slip pocket in the back (which I usually have used for valet stubs, room keys, etc).

Hermes Pochette Inside

Also – the dimensions of the Kelly Pochette are about 8.5 x 5.5 x 2.75 inches by my measurements, which means that it’s a small bag. But for a small bag, I actually find that the Pochette fits quite a bit. First, it fits my giant iPhone 6 Plus with its case comfortable (so important!). On top of that, I’m able to add a lipstick, some cards and cash, and even sunglasses if I really want, though it gets to be a tighter squeeze at that point.

In my opinion, the bag is a perfect size for an evening event or wedding…yet holds enough if you want to take it out for a quick errand, lunch, etc.

Hermes Kelly Pochette What Fits

Finally, the Pochette on yours truly.

Kelly Pochette

I hope this post was helpful for some of you out there considering this bag! Unfortunately I don’t have a Kelly Cut to compare the Pochette with, so I couldn’t do a side by side…but maybe one day that will change!

I’m the same way with J. Crew sales! I am way too indecisive to commit to final sales, and sizing is often inconsistent, even within the same brand.

love lover your KP! I told my SA that I would like to get a KP, but it has been two years and I still did not hear anything. It seems like more and more difficult to get KP nowadays. ;(

For Hermes clutches, I prefer the Kelly Cut and the Medor. The KP looks like a Kelly for little girls and, in my eyes, the proportion just looks off on grown women specially when they carry it by the handle, but cradling it in the hands is awkward because of the size.

Your KP is very lovely. What do you think of your LV key/ card case? Do you put your cards and cash in there? Looking at options for just carrying cash and some cards and I saw yours and want to hear your opinions. Thanks.

I do like it and I’ve had it for a long time. If I could choose a new one now I might not choose it but go for something a bit more understated…however the one feature I REALLY like that this one has is the little clip that you can clip onto the inside of your bag, etc. Keeps things organized and more secure. I use that feature a lot on my big tote bags, backpacks, etc.

Thanks for the info. BTW I bought some aquatalia shoes based on your rec (not the same style) and they are great! Have you ever tried Fiorentini and Baker shoes? They look very stylish but I’m not sure of the comfort. Thanks again.

What a stunning little beauty Kathrine! You are one lucky lady! I’ve had my
eye on a Kelly Pouchette for over 10 years after I passed on a lizard w/ special embossed HW as i just couldn’t justify the price and am still kicking myself. Totally agree with you any Hermes bag is hard to find/replace again and multiple times the price when you do.

Your blue ostrich is the stuff of my dreams. Love ostrich and Hermes blues a fabulous combo. I do have a Kelly Danse that gets out a lot and I’m going to try your tip of leaving the straps open. Thanks this will make it so much more accessible.

Please excuse any typos using my vintage backup roaming iPhone. We get so spoiled with new tech don’t we?

Wear you new cutie in the best of health

Love your KP and of course your well curated H collection. I just asked my SA to put this one on my wish list. I also like the medor but think there is something about the kp that is both elegant and casual.

Hi Mila, I think pants are either from JBrand or Old Navy. I can’t recall the top for sure and I’m not at home right now, but I *think* it’s actually an old one from American Eagle!

What a gorgeous KP! I have been waiting for one for years and it does not seem to be possible at my local boutique. Hopefully it will find me some day! Huge congrats, she’s stunning and you wear her well!

    Dear Katherine,
    This looks AMAZING on you!

What a perfect size, color, and style – really, I am so glad you got this! Your SA was right when she said you would regret it if you didn’t…just SO LOVELY and looks GREAT on you! Now you are making me think I need one in my life, lol!

Thanks for this post, I always wondered what I could fit into one of these…may be too small for me, but it is SO GORGEOUS! Sigh, that blue Ostrich skin looks SO STUNNING! And it’s so versatile – from casual to evening, an excellent investment! Brava!

    😉

KP is hand carry, K 25 is like a classic Kelly with handle and strap…I’d get the K25 if you’re only getting one 🙂
