Summer Purchase List

As temperatures reach into the 90’s this week, I’ve been starting to compile my seasonal list of “what to buy”. Here are the top items on my summer purchase list – I’d love to hear yours!

1. Dressy sandals. I love a great pair of sandals in the summer, and have been hankering after a dressier pair that I could wear to work, and at nicer occasions. I love these nude sandals from Prada – the block heel adds a modern touch, and plus makes them more comfortable!

2. Fun shorts. I wear shorts almost exclusively on the weekends in the summer – they’re so easy to throw on and in my opinion infinitely more comfortable than pants. Plus they aren’t susceptible to strong gusts of wind like skirts are! I always buy a pair in a fun print for summer and these J.Crew jacquard versions are my current favorite.

3. A white dress. I love white dresses! I think I buy one almost every year, and it ends up working out because sometimes a dress years old will end up looking a bit dingy and then I’ll throw it out. So there’s always room for another white dress in my closet.

My current pick is this great white dobby cotton dress by Kate Moss for Topshop. Doesn’t it look divine modeled on Ms. Moss herself? To me it looks like a pretty Anthropologie style dress, but with an edge.

4. Leopard flats. I actually ordered these great Steven leopard espadrilles a few months ago, only to open the box and find these leopard slip ons, instead. Quite cute too, but no cigar! I’m back to looking for leopard espadrille and have it narrowed down to the Steve Maddens above, and these “jaguar” print versions from Schultz.

Those are some of the items on my summer list! What’s on yours?

    1. Summer sandals much like the Prada ones above only with a lower heel for city walking (~2 inches max)

    2. Summer bag. I’m thinking a Fendi baguette without the logo, although I’d appreciate a recommendation!

    3. A couple of summer skirts/dresses for the DC heat waves we’ll likely get soon.

Love love the tote! MJ can do no wrong IMO.

I’ll be shopping in my closet until the sales start.

Always on the look out for a great pair of dress linen pants, I’ll make just about any colour work, it’s the fit and quality that are important.

Those shorts are adorable. I need more shorts. Do you have a favorite denim shorts brand?

On another note: I bought two pairs of the same black pump both in leather and patent. I’m trying to decide which one to keep (they’re for work). Is there a rule or tradition regarding which one is more appropriate for the office?

My favorite pair are from Seven but I wouldn’t spend big $$$ otherwise on jean shorts – Gap, even Abercrombie!

I think both are appropriate as long as they aren’t huge platforms and the heel isn’t too high! I wear both 🙂

You know, I was looking at that tote just yesterday! Funny coincident I see it on your blog today. Makes me want it! I’m trying to be good and not buy stuff though!

The Kate Moss dress is lovely, it’s on my list for summer, I just tried it on, in the wrong size – the cotton is really soft, it poufs out and is probably too young for me but i don’t care.

A few months ago, I got this Alexander McQueen pearl white dress 50% off from net-a-porter. I can’t resist anything with pearls!

In the past few months I changed my wardrobe. I wanted more pastels and light colors which are huge this year so that is why there’s not much left on my wishlist 😉

I would love a flirty white dress for summer! My personal style and new purchases have been put on the back burner since the little lady arrived, but I think it’s time to start shopping again!

You are also reminding me to look into espadrilles. The espadrilles were among my favorite shoes in SJPs collection.

    Dear Katherine,
Whatever is on sale at the next Chanel sale.
    LOL! 😉

    And the Hermes sample sale.
That is within a “reasonable” price range.

    Which basically means nothing. 🙁

Honestly, I have been interested in the SK-II Essence treatment and mask since everyone I know (and the mutual beauty bloggers we follow) seem to like/rave about it. And that stuff is quite pricey. That’s about it on my wish list.

Do you have any new beauty items on your wish list to try for the summer? 🙂

The dress and espadrilles are gorgeous! 😀

    🙂 Shockingly Short,
    Ava (lol)

I need to think about my beauty list! I’ve been remiss in organizing what I’ve bought in the last few months – my apologies! Please share how you like the Essence 🙂

        Hi Katherine,

So this is how I will get this Essence — if a friend of mine who works for the company is willing to share his discount, I will get it. If not, no Essence. I should have an answer for your by August if I DO get it, but we shall see.

In the meantime, I did receive gigantic samples of Le Jour, La Nuit and Le Weekend and love them! 🙂

        🙂
        Ava
