Recent Finds: Nordstrom and Target

I recently picked up a few items at both Nordstrom and Target which I’ve really been enjoying – I wanted to share these items before they’re no longer in stores/go back to full price.

___

I posted earlier about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale going public about a week ago. Since then I’ve both gone to the store and placed a shameful amount of orders. Unfortunately most of the items I tried didn’t end up working out for me and/or were disappointing – apart from my yearly stock up of Zella pants, I only found two items that I thought were really great. Here they are!

First up: Diptyque candles. These candles are one of my favorite home indulgences but the prices scare me so I only buy a few a year. Luckily, they last a really long time.

As part of the Anniversary Sale, Nordstrom is offering a Diptyque set which includes a wick trimmer and lid with any two candles. The two normally retail for $38 and $22 respectively separately, so it’s a nice value if you’re a Diptyque fan.

Note that I actually bought mine in store, so was able to pick out any two candle scents I wanted (the Eucalyptus might get exchanged though – a little too strong, I can smell the camphor through the box). The online set comes with Figuier and Baies, which are two of my favorites.

The candles come in a very nice box as well, perfect for gifting.

My second favorite item from the Nordstrom sale was one that I unfortunately didn’t get to keep. I really love the brand Aquatalia for boots – they are very high quality, have great leather and are warm and highly water resistant. A pair of heeled Aquatalia’s took me through two Boston winters in sleet and slush, no problem. When I saw that Nordstrom had a pair on sale for Anniversary, I ordered them right away.

Aquatalia Ora

Aquatalia “Ora” boots

When the boots arrived, I loved how they looked. They were perfect, fantastic leather, great details and a warm lining….except for the fact that really aren’t made for shorter legs like mine, hitting at an awkward place on my leg. I was such a fan of these boots otherwise though that I would really recommend them if you are taller and/or have longer legs. They would look fantastic with skinny jeans and are great for cold weather. I also appreciated the buckle at the top that let you adjust the width.

There’s a very nice soft lining as well (something Aquatalia is known for).

The Ora boots are on sale for $300 which while high, are still a good price for quality boots. They’re a popular item as the boots keep going in and out of stock, so keep checking back on the Aquatalia product page if you don’t see your size.

Next up – Target!

I usually don’t follow or end up purchasing from Target’s designer collaborations, but I’m a big fan of its latest one with FEED USA. Most of you are probably familiar with FEED, and this particular initiative benefits Feeding America, a hunger-relief charity. I loved the idea of the Target X FEED collaboration, and when I saw the items in store I was pleasantly surprised by how many I really liked! I ended up taking quite a few items home. Here are my two favorites.

The first is this really cool reusable burlap bag. I’m always on the lookout for large totes, and this one is terrific. I use it for carrying groceries, books to the library, and all sorts of errands.

I also bought a few extras of these bags as gifts. They’d be a great bag for a hostess present – I plan on putting flowers, dessert or wine inside and the bag is part of the gift!

There’s also very sweet chambray lining. The number “8” printed on the back indicates the number of meals the purchase has provided to those in need.

Feed Open

My second favorite purchase from this collaboration was a crossbody bag. The weather has been great and I’ve been taking more and more walks outside – sometimes if I get up early enough, I’ll even walk to work! I had been searching for a crossbody bag that would be large enough to hold a pair of heels (to switch into for work) and my daily essentials, but not be too large and cumbersome.

This FEED bag was perfect – just the right size, adjustable strap, and super light. There’s a small pocket inside and it has a magnetic closure. I’ve been using it several times a week.

This bag buys 20 meals for those in need. You can also check out the entire FEED x Target lineup, here.

If you have any favorites from this Target collection or from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, please share! The Nordstrom sale ends on August 5th and the Target X FEED collaboration seems to be while supplies last.

I feel the same way about the Nordstrom sale! I usually make out like a bandit, but this year was completely underwhelming for me. I did purchase two pairs of shoes that I’m waiting on in the mail, but I might return those if they don’t fit properly.

I love the candles! They are so elegant and beautiful. I might have to pick up the set!

I love the Diptique fragrances. I am wearing ambre now. I was thinking about trecking over to Barneys and getting some oil. I love the Feed Line. I purchased the denim shirt and 4 bracelets. I liked the bags; however they were a little overwhelming on my frame.

I love Amber! I would like it for our home but my husband doesn’t prefer it.

I have always wanted to try those candles but it’s really hard for my to justify spending that much on a candle. Honestly, do you think it’s worth the hype?

It is if you love candles/home items…I would say no if you’re not normally a candle person!

Whoa! I didn’t even think to look at Diptyque during the Anniversary Sale. I bought my first earlier this year and loved it. Might have to indulge. =)

Great buys Katherine! My Nordstrom SA enabled me into getting the last pair of Dior bow shoes on sale so I have to get back to NY and try them on!
Otherwise, I am really liking the Feed collaboration. I wasn’t a huge fan at first either, but am really liking your cross body bag. I think it would be a good summer/beach bag as well. The tote could definitely be a beach bag. Random tangent – I know how 8 symbolizes the number of meals, but it is interesting how it is “fa” in Cantonese as well signaling money made to donate meals!

Oh Dior bow shoes sound fabulous! I noticed that about the “8” as well – even better!

I’ve been eyeing Aquatalia since a friend told me about the brand. I just wish stores in the UK stock them. Ahhh….Diptyque. I promise myself I’m going to get a bunch of French candles and room diffusers when I get to France for our summer vacation soon.
