One of my favorite items that Ann Taylor has made is their “Miracle” dress. I bought this dress quite a while ago during one of those % off sales, and it’s such an easy piece to wear to work. You just slip it on and go. The fabric is good quality and I love finding “DVF” esque dresses at a much friendlier price point.

Louboutin pumps (similar and less $$ here)
A few days ago we visited my mom’s for dinner and decided to stop by one of my favorite candy shops growing up, Powell’s! I was happy to discover it was still there and thriving. I’ve never met a kid who wasn’t in love with a candy shop. Well my know-it-all cousin said he didn’t like them growing up, but his mother was one of most Tigery of the Tiger Moms and only served carob cookies during Halloween. Just saying.
One of my favorite features of Powell’s was still around – the 1971 version of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, which plays in a continuous loop. I’d always thought even as a kid that Willy Wonka seemed oddly detached when Augustus Gloop fell into the chocolate river. There’s theater seating to sit and watch, and nobody hassles you to leave. Heaven for all ages.
On the topic of candy, my favorites growing up:
1. Sour ropes in green apple and strawberry
2. Chocolate covered gummy bears
3. Swedish fish
4. Malt balls
5. Yogurt covered anything
What were some of your favorite candies when you were a kid?

it definitely is a fabulous dress.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Never knew it was made back in 1971! I am a 90s kid and loved that movie as a 6th grader when it aired on TV. Pity pity the only candy shop element in my childhood was from 50 Cent.
Such a fabulous dress lady! I love it. I think the print is just so fun and the style is a classic.
I love this question, haha. I loved (and still love) Kit Kats, fruit-flavoured “Little Twin Stars” boiled sweets (not sure if you’ve seen this but they’re a dream!), Werthers’ Originals caramels, M&S lemon fish (discontinued!).
And I love your Hermes cuff in that very particular shade of grey.
I love Werthers but never heard of the Little Twin Stars! Is the candy Sanrio related? If so I have to try it!
hahaha! Carob cookies–in my humble opinion, anyway–beat the bible verse and Jesus fish crackers that I’d occasionally get trick-or-treating in my neighborhood.
Jesus fish crackers?? Now I’ve heard it all!
Oh candy shops! I used to love them when I was kid! I remember my parents taking me and my brother to one of them, when we were little. I still like my candy from time to time!
You look gorgeous in that dress, by the way!
Love your bag!
Such a pretty dress Katherine. Love how you’ve kept the accessories minimal.
Have a fab weekend Hun xoxo

Ooooh, love the dress
I favourite candies as a kid included sour lemon candies, marshmallow strawberries, candy corn, those hard sugary easter eggs, and of course all sorts of chocolate
marshmallow strawberries? Those sound intriguing!
That dress looks great on you, Katherine!
My favourite (still) candy treats are peach rings, those sour tapes, and those wire-looking gummies (they are strawberry or blueberry and filled with a “cream”). Haha, such technical terminology I’m using here!
xo, alison*elle
omg those wire gummies! Yes! So good.
Loved all the candy shop pic, Katherine! Made me crave some chocolate! lol
You look great! And I love those candy shop pictures!
My favourite candy as a child was sugar covered aniseeds – they are still sold for practically nothing in India. Love them. I have a major sweet tooth – just made white chocolate and burnt sugar fudge this week. Great to serve guests, give away to friends, and of course have at home after dinner
You know I had a friend bring me back all kinds of different covered aniseeds when they went to India years ago and they were delicious. Are they easy to find in the US? I should probably just check one of our local Indian supermarkets.
I am sure the local Indian supermarkets have candy aniseeds (the hindi name is jeera goli) – good luck finding it!
I really love the longer sleeve length on the dress! I second you on the sour ropes and Swedish fish! I like to pick up sour watermelon slices at Bulk Barn every now and then also.
Beautiful dress; I agree, very DVF-ish. You look amazing in it. xo
LUXESSED
Love the dress!! You look fabulous as always!
Oh my goodness! I haven’t stepped foot into a candy store in a long time. I fear that if I did, I’d pretty much buy everything that I shouldn’t ever put into my mouth, haha. I absolutely love that dress and how flattering it is on you!

Love the dress and the way you accessorize it!
Fabulous outfit and nice to see your red Chanel jumbo flap again.
Love the look of your candy store, there’s this vintage feel while looking at it and makes me feels I’m a kid once again. I love white rabbit and fox ( assorted ) growing up.:)
Love the dress and lovely photos….Chocolate gummies sounds amazing!
When I was younger I used to hoard sour ropes, marshmellow strawberries, and cream filled red licorice. Id hide all the goodies from my sister under my mattress until my mom wanted to deep-clean our room and found a melted, sticky mass waiting just for her >:) (I was more into hoaring a pile than eating the stuff).
My favorite part about the dress is the sleeves. They create a flattering, very ladylike silhouette on you. You look very effortless in this cut. I also like that the dress hits you above the knee because it gives it a more youthful spin than similar dresses that end at the knee or below.
Hi Kat!
Love the dress! What size are you wearing?
XXS regular but I think XS petite would fit the same
Love that dress! I might sound strange but Ive never liked candy!! Growing up and even now I love the Cadbury’s Dairy Milk chocolate. Try them if you get a chance. They melt in your mouth and that smooth velvety chocolatey taste is to die for!
Kat, I REALLY like this dress!! I always look for well constructed ones with long enough sleeves and yours fits the bill perfectly. I’m one of those rare individuals that pass out cold when I have sweets. Yeah.. I know. Sad. Even the docs are bemused by my affliction. I’ve always loved gummi bears and raspberry twists which I will eat in small quantities unless I’m at home and want to nap… (eeeek…guess I’ve just told everyone how easy it is to knock me out. Just pass her a sweet…..).
You liked yogurt covered anything? Sounds very bay area
This dress is amazing! You have a great eye! I want to kidnap you for a day of shopping but I am all the way in France now. Lucky you… except that gives me much time to find a large van without windows, with which to lure you into with candy, now that I know your faves-haha.
For me it was 1. Chocolate chip cookies with milk 2. Breyers natural vanilla ice cream 3. Butter pecan Haagen Dazs ice cream.
Bay Area yogurt is Greek, non fat, very organic, LOL! Thank you for the kind words and believe me I’d love to be in France!
