Today I wanted to share with you a fun little work and play dress I purchased – from Target!

I was very excited about this dress as until now, I’ve had awful luck with clothing from Target and have never been able to find anything there that fits me – especially from all the various designer collaborations. I didn’t even know that there was a new collaboration with the brand The Webster (or for that matter, what The Webster was), but ordered this dress on a whim from online.

The Webster for Target dress (petite here, plus size here)
Hermes Garden Party (similar splurge, more budget friendly)
YSL Tribute sandals (lookalikes at a lower price)

When I got my package, I was pleasantly surprised – finally, an order where I didn’t have to return anything to my local Target store! I dread going to Target because it’s like a little pit of doom and I always end up frittering away my money on all kinds of useless items. For example, right now I find myself random halfway to an entire collection of whale shaped kitchenware items…and all thanks to Target. But that’s besides the point.

The dress is polyester which is never as nice as silk, but it feels pretty solid and the fabric doesn’t have that “cheap” look you get sometimes from synthetics. I love the pattern and also that the collar has buttons so you can adjust the neckline (I prefer a little v-neck). The sleeves also have elastic on the ends so you can push them down or leave them. It’s a bit brighter in real life (check the links above to go to the website for pictures).

This dress was around $38 after some codes which isn’t crazy cheap, but good enough for an item that can easily go from work to dinner. Plus it’s been so hot here these days that another light summer dress couldn’t have come soon enough!

Any other clothing items you’d recommend that I should be on the lookout for from Target?

  1. Of course you make it look like a million dollars.
I’ve noticed those ads in my American mags and been quite intrigued by them, I’ve liked loads in the pics.

  2. Oh wow, for some reason this collab flew right under the radar for me and I haven’t even noticed it. I need to go check it out at my local target sometime! It looks like there might be some nice affordable pieces for summer. The dress looks great on you btw!

I have bad luck at Target too. I went there for the Jason Wu collab and, not only was there are a free for all for the clothes, but nothing seemed to fit–not even the skirts!

  3. Love that dress on you! I saw it in stores but alas it just doesn’t work for my frame…

  4. The dress looks great on you! I bought the Crinkle Chiffon Top and love wearing with white shorts. I too thought no way it would never work but loved the fun print of this blouse that I would normally never buy…it also looked huge but the volume on top wasn’t too overwhelming. Love it when Target comes through for me!

  6. my favorite basic black long sleeve tee came from target’s liz lange maternity style. i wish i had loaded up on more because of course they discontinued it. and i really loaded up on the missoni/target stuff. but i think target makes good feather weight basic tees. i like that print, i tried on the robe version but i don’t like 3/4 sleeves so i let it pass. the men’s webster stuff was really nice though.

  7. cute dress! with shoes and bag, I wouldn’t even be able to tell it’s from target.
Love your sunglasses too. who are they by?

  8. The dress looks very chic on you

  9. I love that dress and the shoes! I was at Target last week and I swear I could not get out of the clothing section. I always want to buy everything there >.<

    I also love their swimsuits!

  10. This dress is super cute, Katherine! We are supposed to be getting Target soon and I can just imagine how much $ I’m going to waste there on totally unnecessary items.

  11. The dress looks very pretty on you. My shopping experience in Target is usually disappointing. I never find any clothes in there. I have the odd pair of gym pants, birthday cards and household bits and pieces. But never find anything as yet…..that I can say wow to. Maybe that will change, I keep hoping…

  12. I like this dress but I’m with you on Target sizing being wonky especially in the designer collabs. I picked up some Jason Wu pieces and they were way too big on me. Sometimes you can find gems there but other times not so much.

  13. I love the print!! That’s saying a lot because I generally have an aversion to them. I was instantly drawn to the texture and the design next. I’ve never heard of The Webster before but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that dress. $38 is crazy cheap. I

  14. I almost wanted to purchase a few things from The Webster for Miami collection as well, but I’m so short that I realized it wouldn’t fit on me as well as I would imagine them to fit! I love the dress that you picked up! You made it look so fabulous!

  15. You look great! I didn’t find this at my local Target. In fact, I didn’t find anything! I haven’t had much luck with the newest Target collabs. You look perfect in this!

  16. I actually LOOK for polyester sometimes, instead of silk. Silk is very difficult to wash, and expensive to dry clean. There are some very well-done pieces in polyester at Aritzia!

  17. It’s really nice!

  18. Target is hit or miss for me. But the hits have been my absolute favorite. You look lovely.

  19. The dress is lovely! The print is cute!

  20. I love this print – thanks for the review! One of my favorite dresses is my Thakoon for Target dresses (and a fave jacket was the Behnaz Sarafpour for Target cropped jacket!) It is great to keep on trying with the designer collaborations there and eventually you’ll find some good stuff! Have a lovely weekend Katherine!

  22. Very interesting pattern and the cut is very flattering. Love the neutral color pallet you have going.. very fresh especially when the fashion scene is busy with neon and bright colors :)

  23. Such a cute dress!

    Happy Saturday, my dear!

  24. I adore your blog and was gobsmacked to see we share the same dress. I purchased it for the beach. Bernardos, gold bangles and a french market tote…easy breezy. Now I see I can wear it into the city. J’adore you!

  25. Oh that dress is really pretty! The Target collections seem really good, pity we don’t get them in the UK

  26. Just when I thought I was done with shopping for the summer….now I want that dress! Are you wearing petite XS? The dress doesn’t look that great on the Target website, but it looks gorgeous on you!

  27. Love your whole outfit. That dress is such a great score! And your Tributes are TDF! PS and the wee bear on your bag is so cute!

  28. you look fantastic and elegant! i love the print on the dress and you paired it beautifully with the GP and tributes. we are supposed to get target here in 2013. this should be interesting! :)

  29. I have to say that I have been impressed with some of the Target designer matchups. I have one that they did with Rodarte that I’ve had for at least a year now, and it looks great. I wear it all the time to work, it’s easy to wash, and looks fabulous. It’s hit or miss with me, and, like you, I always find that when I order things I have to take most of it back.
