Interview with Frances – Part Two

Hi everybody! I am still in Bangkok – about to fly out – and posting from the Emirates lounge here. I hope you enjoyed meeting Frances yesterday. Unfairly gorgeous no? Her style is very inspiring. Sometimes in the pursuit of “classic wear forever” items I find myself buying a lot of stuff that literally a 60 year old woman would also wear so I end up looking a little Angela Lansbury-ish (not that I don’t love Murder She Wrote!). Anyway that’s why it’s always great for me to look at photos of someone so fun and youthful like Frances to find inspiration. Enjoy part two!

What are some items that you’d love to get in the future?

The perfect statement necklace. I’ve been looking for a while but nothing has been “the one” it’ll probably be something with a lot of crystals and very colorful. I’ve also been obsessed with figuring out how to obtain a hot pink Celine luggage tote from the Resort 2012 collection, the color is absolutely stunning.

What are some of you favorite luxury, and main street brands? What brands do you think are overrated?

I love Givenchy, Celine, Proenza Schouler, Miu Miu, Prada, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Chanel, and YSL for luxury labels. For more affordable brands, I’m all about J.Crew, Zara, and Club Monaco. For overpriced brands – I suppose I would have to say Balmain. While I like what they put on the runway, it’s so absurdly expensive for what it is. I could buy a car for the price of one of their blazers.

Anything that you really loved in the past, that you’re kind of “ehhh” on now?

Studs, haha. Well every now and then it looks great but I’m over anything too heavily studded.

What % of your items do you buy on sale, vs. full price?

I’ll admit, I’m that person that tends to walk into a store with a huge SALE sign splashed on the window and end up browsing the full price items. I’m just so ADD when it comes to shopping that I don’t have the patience to sift through racks of unorganized clothes. I’d say about 35% of my items are purchased on sale.

Can you share some pieces of style/fashion/shopping advice that you’ve had to learn the hard way over the years?

I’m quite petite and I find that sometimes my proportions are hard to shop for so in the past I wore a lot of trends that didn’t quite flatter my body type, a major no no! I’ve finally learned which silhouettes work best for me and it’s made shopping a lot easier even though it may break my heart to see some beautiful dress on the rack knowing it wouldn’t look good on me. I’m quite an impulsive person and used to be an even more impulsive shopper. Now I like to do a lot of my shopping online but to practice resistance I force myself to bookmark an item and wait a few days before purchasing. Most of the time I find that after a week or so I don’t want to buy it anymore.

And finally – please share something surprising about yourself

Even though I absolutely love fashion, it’s sort of a dream of mine to open up a dessert bar in the city and live out all my culinary dreams!

I hope you all enjoyed meeting the lovely Frances! Thank you again to her for taking the time to do this interview and sharing her fantastic style with us. For more of Frances, check out her blog here. Kisses from Bangkok!

She's a petite!? Definately cannot tell from the photos as her proportions are so well thought out.
I totally agree with you about the aging effect of some classics and that's where I'm at now and trying to figure a way out!

I ADORE the dress in the last photo – timeless yet always exciting. Frances I salute you and your style!
    Bon voyage home Katherine!

She is so beautiful!! I wonder what does she do (or family)? I mean, it's unusual for a 20's something to be able to afford so much "stuff" :p

Her style is very impeccable and sophisticated given that she is quite young. Even her casual looks are so so well put together. There is something in her style that I adore, she blends sophistication and edginess together perfectly.

Loved this interview! Her style is so downtown and definitely NY. I do the same thing w/ bookmarking items and then going back. It really helps me curb the impulsive want.

I love Frances's style and I'm starting to see the light of buying items I only truly love (within my means, of course!).

My favourite 2 outfits was the white top with the colourful skirt peeking out from under neath and the beautiful nude laced dress paired with a flowy cardigan. So effortlessly chic!
