I found this old Y & Kei top from a long time ago the other day (I think 05 or 06?) while digging through a bunch of clothes at my mom’s house. It makes me happy to rediscover clothes from a long time ago, especially if I can still wear them out in public without shame (the same cannot be said about all those old Abercrombie tiered mini skirts that I found. You all know what I’m talking about!)
Y & Kei blouse (similar here)
Sportmax jacket (similar here at great price)
BDG jeans (similar here, here)
Louboutin pumps (similar Loubs here, more affordable option here)
Balenciaga bag (here)
In other random news, yesterday I watched the film “Goodbye, Lenin” which I’d recommend to everybody. It’s a foreign film about a boy whose mother goes into a coma right before the fall of the Berlin Wall (they live in East Germany). She wakes up after the Wall has come down, but to prevent shock to her heart, he decides to try to make as if they are still living in a Communist society. Really quite funny, touching and shows how life was in a Europe that no longer exists. Highly recommended!
I also did laundry yesterday and managed to dye an entire load of whites pink, due to a red Louboutin dust bag that accidentally got caught in the laundry load. A photo of the carnage here – one of my husband’s favorite white shirts:
I already ordered him a few replacements with the current J.Crew promotion. Please learn from my lessons people: always double check the washing machine load!
Have you ever had any major laundry catastrophes?

Ooh bummer about the laundry. That's happened to me before too. This is a great top, glad you were able to rediscover it. There is nothing better than a jeans and blazer combo!

Your blouse is so pretty! I recently washed a black wool sweater on a normal cycle and it came out fit for a toddler and it was my only black sweater! Other disasters in the past are washing a dress I'd spilt tea on, washing made the stain permanent and leaving a coloured Kleenex in the pocket of a light seersucker dress staining it forever. Something that wasn't my own fault was sending a Chanel blouse to the dry cleaners and they LOST the matching necktie. I still have nightmares about that!
Love the details on the top! Ah yes, plenty of laundry disasters. I've got a few pink and light blue items floating around ready to be thrown out!

That blouse is so pretty and unique!

1. That's a great movie
2. That's a beautiful shirt! And yes, I know those hideous skirts you're talking about- I had one too many as well
3. I did that with out laundry and my green jeans the other day. Ryan was not pleased. Oops.

this outfit really flatters your figure! i always ruin my clothes, i should probably start dry cleaning a lot of the things that i throw in the laundry machines!
Lovely blouse! You look great!
that top is so lovely.
That's a beautiful top! I love the intricate embroidery and lace.
That movie sounds great! I love indie, foreign films! The blouse is beautiful too! The detailing is really impeccable.
great outfit! have you heard of shout color catcher? might help prevent those laundry disasters…
I think your hubby wanted new shirts and threw that dust bag in there. LOL Just kidding! I love that top Katherine. It looks so good on you! It's timeless girl. Enjoy! Have an awesome weekend!

Lovely top!
*Raises hand* Guilty for owning a few of those tiered Abercrombie mini skirts back when I was a young teen! LOL.
Yay for rediscovering old pieces of clothing.
The best way to gain "new" items for "new" outfits. ^^
Thanks for the recommendation movie!! And ah…in reference to your tweet. I've had some reds bleed out before, but never anything too major. ><
You should tell your hubby that his shirt isn't pink, but more of a salmon hue. lol. That has happened to me (and I'm sure anybody else that does laundry) quite a few times. Once, with something purple.
Anyway, your blouse is so pretty. I love finding old things again. It makes me feel like I just went shopping

What a gorgeous top and it looks so great with that blazer! I had way to many of those abercrombie mini skirts that all appropriately went to goodwill. Goodbye Lenin is one of my favorite films and I'm not just saying that because I'm slightly obsessed with soviet culture. It's actually hilarious.
yes… fiance shrunk one of my cashmere sweaters. so i don't trust him when putting items in the dryer anymore.
love the shoes and the bag, i'm quite jealous, and thanks for the movie rec!
You look gorgeous! I love what you're wearing here – such a nice blend of casual and sophistication!
Loving your blouse!
Everytime I do laundry – there always seems to be a stray tissue or paper in someone's pocket and then tissue pieces get strewn everywhere onto clothes!! Not a good look! So then you have to rewash them again.. sigh! hheeh I'm going to have to watch that movie with such great reviews from people!

Great outfit! I've never tried it myself but I think you can use Rit color remover. Here's a link. Good Luck.

i've seen goodbye lenin. It's one of my fav films. Thanks for stopping by
i've heard about the movie a long time ago. looks interesting! and omg so sorry to hear about your laundry mishap!!! 1 red item really does turn everything pink lol
@Anonymous Thank you!! I might try that out
@Anonymous Sadly I do have it actually (a few samples) but I never use it -I will next time!
Happy to see that so many people have already seen Goodbye, Lenin – such a great movie!
I've actually never seen that movie, but I used some of the music (Yann Tiersen) to choreograph a dance a few years ago. I should probably watch it!
1. The detail on the blouse is so pretty. 2. That film is funny but made me sad too (in a nostalgic kind of way I guess). 3. I managed to turn some (wedding gift) white towels yellow. But, just like the shirt you show here, they were dyed quiet uniformly, so I just kept using them
Ouch! Luckily, my husband does the laundry here and is very particular about colors and delicates and what nots
Love the top! so beautiful and fits you perfectly!
Superb blouse! Love your adorable outfit

lovely top!
kisses
Unfortunately yes, been there done that too. I'm in Australia but discovered a product called 'Runaway' by Dylon. You add it to the wash with the damaged clothes and like magic the dye is removed. Hope you can source it, it's even hard to find here!
P.S: I don't comment but enjoy reading your blog always!

Oh dear about the laundry. I love rediscovering old things as well…haha not so much those dreaded fashion faux pas though
I love that blouse, such pretty detailing! Goes so well with the Louboutins. And so far I've managed to avoid any laundry disasters (knock on wood), but I'm sorry it happened to you!

LOL.. The only laundry catastrophe happen to my own clothes, all the time.
My husband had never let me touch his laundry since day 1.
And those A&F skirts you mentioned, my load went to my niece, who happily took them.
Yikes! I got bleach on my hubby's blue burberry polo and ruined it. Blamed it on the old washer…got a new washer/dryer out of it! Your delicate blouse is so pretty!
Every time I see those Decollettes I can't help but drool!
Are you going to get the red soles replaced? Just curious, because yours still look brand new, while mine are all scratched up after a few wears. :S
Ooh I love the delicate detailing on that blouse.
OH no…so sorry to hear that Mr. Feather's shirt is now pink. I always separate my lights and darks in different places of my condo so nothing gets mixed in
Definitely amazing top!
♥
What a lovely top! It is a bummer about the laundry (I've been guilty of turning whites pink too!)
Have a lovely weekend!
That top is gorgeous. Sorry about the laundry!! I missed a pen in my hubby's shirt and had busted ink all over my washer not good!
Beautiful top, and I love the jeans on you too.
Hubby was 5 when the Berlin wall opened. We'll be stopping in Berlin after New Years and museum-hopping, so maybe I'll check out that film before then.
Thanks for the film recommendation.
Gorgeous top, and I will have to remember to heck out the movie! That sucks about the laundry though. I've had plenty of shrinking catastrophes in the past, haha.
I love that top, so summery!!!! and i like your B bag! i got one myself too:)
I've not heard of that movie before but from what you described, i might just check it out!
Oh, and thx for dropping by my blog!:D

Your top is really pretty. Of course I love your Louboutins. And don't worry about the laundry, it happens to everyone sometime!
Your top is so beautiful! I love all the delicate detailing. I would freak if I turned all my whites pink!
HAHA @ old Abercrombie clothes. Unfortunately I don't have any oldies that look as cute as your Y & Kei top, but I'm doing my best to work them into my current wardrobe somehow. Too many memories associated with them to just somehow give away.
I think if your husband's "new" pink shirts didn't have random darker spots, he can actually pass it off as a regular pink shirt that so many guys are sporting right now… if he's into that style
you look so effortlessly pretty!!
I love that blouse! Shopping in my mom's old clothes are where I find some of my favorite finds too!
Oh my goodness! I've always dreaded this happening…
Hot olive oil treatments are awesome!
Awww I hate it when that happens to my laundry! Luckily, nothing that big has happened (yet?).. but I'm always very careful. hehehe Hope you didn't damage any expensive items!
What are you talking about? You don't have a big head. Ugh I hate those laundry accidents, thankfully I haven't had one in a while but every now and then I will find random items in my pockets after the piece has been washed. So I think I have just been lucky.
Reviving old pieces is always fun
I love the embroidery detailing on the blouse. That's terrible what happened with the laundry but at least you guys have more than enough pink clothes now haha
Fab outfit Katherine, those jeans look fab on you and the blouse is really pretty. Love the detailing.
I love rediscovering old fashion treasures that are still wearable. Yikes on the laundry mishap. Good thing we send my husband's shirts out cause I'm pretty sure that's something that would happen to me. I've inadvertently tossed items in the dryer that I shouldn't have and ended up with some crispy clothing lol.
You look so beautiful!!! Amazing blouse, perfect!!!!!

Look at that badonkadonk! But you know, in a totally non-perverted way… those jeans are a perfect fit!
i know this is totally off topic.. but umm.. you have REALLY nice a&& ahahaha you should LIVE in those jeans.. actually you should LIVE in those jeans.. and then when you walk into a room.. you should walk in backwards.. AHAHAHA!
hey! I have a tried and true trick for restoring whites. It works when you've done what you did and washed the white with something red and it also works for getting icky pit stains out of white (I mean if you have that problem. me? NO way!)
Anywho, my grandma used it and told me about it so you know it's good. Here's what you do:
Take 1 gallon of water and put it in a large pot to boil. Add to that 1/2 cup of POWDER dishwashing detergent (it must be powder) and 1/4 cup of bleach. Bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and add your soiled items. You can do 2-3 depending on the size. Give it a stir in the pot and let it soak for 30 minutes. Dump out the excess water and rewash items like normal in the washing machine (but only wash the few items you've soaked. don't mix them with anything else). Works like a charm.
love your top! it's so pretty! regarding laundry I experienced like that before when I'm still new to our marriage and household work. Making laundry is the least task that I do in our household, i prefer cooking than doing it.
yeah I had a bunch of white blouses (which I usually have dry cleaned but then I thought: why not wash myself and learn to iron then) – which turned turquoise due to a turquoise pillow case in the machine… nice. Actually I managed to get the blouses white again after two more washing cycles with somewhat special "whitener"….
wow! gorgeous top!
I love that blouse!
You know, I hate to jinx myself, but I have NEVER accidentally dyed any of my clothes in the washer. I'm sure it will happen soon!
