I have many many tea mugs but I insist on drinking out of this one almost every day. I bought it over a year ago at the Venetian in Macau – was wandering around the casino with some very hungover friends that insisted on going into Starbucks to get away from all the noise and lights. Inside I found this awesome mug there that was modeled after a cat! Isn’t it cool? As some of you know, I have a special predilection for cat related items.
I love hearing about all the things that people cherish and use daily. These items that we reach for day after day – sometimes they can say a lot about a person, about what they seek through the comfort of everyday familiarity. Sometimes these things can mean very little (just that a person enjoys drinking tea out of animal shaped vessels). Either way I think it’s fascinating.
What are some of your favorite everyday items?

November 1, 2011 at 1:35 pmAww! That cup is adorable. I have 2 mugs I use regularly. One is a mug with my name engraved on it that my grandmother bought me for my high school graduation and the other is my Dallas Cowboys mug. There is something comforting about both 🙂 Heather

November 1, 2011 at 3:02 pmA friend of mine from Macau recently told me all about it and I'd love to visit. Sounds like you had fun! I can't believe they sell such lovely mugs at international Starbucks locations. I'm currently sipping coffee from a handmade mug with elephants on it. I reach for it every morning along with the week's issue of the New Yorker.

November 1, 2011 at 3:12 pmHehe, that cup is adorable! Whenever I am at my parent's house I always eat out of the same plate. It's one my grandma gave me, and there is absolutely nothing special about it (I think she probably bought it at a garage sale for like 25 cents when we first same to America). But for some reason as a kid I liked it, so he gave it to me, and ever since then it's been my special plate 🙂

November 1, 2011 at 3:54 pmOh that is so cute!! I love that. I have on cozy mug that I love to use. It has a bit of a curve so that my hand just wraps around it perfectly. I also have a very specific pillow that I like. We have a pile of pillows on my bed, but there is one that I prefer. So much so that if my husband uses it, I'll wake him up to make him trade with me. He can't even tell the difference, but I can!

November 1, 2011 at 4:04 pmi really need to invest in a cute mug. i guess i'm so worried about staining my teeth that I avoid coffee mugs and coffee in general. But there is no harm in tea….

November 1, 2011 at 4:39 pmGreat mug! I've always wanted to start a collection, and I think mugs are the way to go. They're practical, and it's kind of neat to get that warm fuzzy of a great memory with each sip.
Some of my favorite every day items: a great pen, a cozy scarf, my Ray Bans.

November 1, 2011 at 6:03 pmCute mug! And that looks like a LUCKY CAT too! I'm always wearing pearls. Known as the pearl girl! HAHAHA Everyone is always saying, "you know kim, she's the one with the pearls." It's what sets everyone apart. Great post!

November 1, 2011 at 6:12 pmAdore the mug. I'm in a frugal mode and am currently using a mug that was the container from a Teleflora centerpiece. I remind myself daily that it's the thought that counts.
My signature/beloved quirk is to always wear something pink. The inner me is Hello Kitty but the careerist dictates more delicate accents. Sometimes, it's limited to lingerie. When that is the case, I sport a pink pen. One can never be too pink.

November 1, 2011 at 6:41 pmCute mug – it makes you want to smile! A good way to start the day. I love mugs, too. My favourite at the moment is an Orla Kiely one. but I also love tiny espresso cups.

November 1, 2011 at 9:22 pmHaving a 3yr old daughter really gets you in touch with your inner Disney Princess. I have a mug from the Disney store with Belle on it but this is no ordinary Belle – this Belle is from the Disney Princess Couture type line the put out back in September. All the dolls sold like hot cakes and they were $60/ea. Which is a shame – I was really hoping to score either the Mulan or the Jasmine doll – they were so pretty!

November 1, 2011 at 9:36 pmThat mug is adorable, I love it! My favorite mug is one that my best friend got me when she went on a family road trip to Yellowstone about 8 years ago. It has my name on it. 🙂

November 1, 2011 at 10:27 pmThat cat mug is so cute! I can't believe it was found at a Starbucks!! I drink coffee everyday (even though I'm trying to transition to tea since my mom keeps telling me to do so) and I use a HUGE mug we got from a Starbucks in Berlin! It's ginormous (so not helping with the tea transition) but it reminds me of our time in Germany!
And I love anything animal related! I have a post coming up because I bought 2 different silly iphone covers – one is a panda and one is a cat!!
P.S. Thanks for your sweet comments! (I'm sorta boring really!)

November 1, 2011 at 11:10 pmYour cute mug puts mine to shame. I actually love dainty tea cups and saucers. I'm fighting the urge to collect them because I have a tendency to break things.

November 2, 2011 at 11:46 amThis mug is absolutely gorgeous! I love the oriental touches in it and the tail handle is so cute 🙂 I've been using the same mug for the past year or so now. It's a simple white mug from Africa with a rhino printed on it haha

November 2, 2011 at 12:22 pmI love the mug! It's funny how you become attached to a certain mug. I'm like that too with a pair of chopsticks that I own. They are just plain, dark brown wooden ones that my grandmother gave me, but I love how they feel in my hands. Strange people we are. 🙂

November 2, 2011 at 2:23 pmSo cute! I love having cute coffee mugs since I use them everyday. I visited Macau last year too! I found one of my favorite pairs of shoes at one of the shops in the Venetian.

November 2, 2011 at 10:45 pmLoving hearing about everybody's items! It seems like so many of them are connected to food – chopsticks, mugs, water bottles – but I did love the Birkenstock example too 🙂 Keep them coming!
