Quick Review: Quince Silk Slip Skirt

Sale PSA: A fun cardigan from Shrimps, now 50% off, a pretty white slide from Jimmy Choo, now 40% off, and these J.Crew heeled sandals, now a super good deal of under $70 (but final sale!) with code 25HOURS (also check out this adorable cardigan).

Hi! I got my act together (kind of, barely) and have a quick review post today!

Since my random review of a Quince silk slipdress a months ago, it has been one of the posts that I get the MOST emails about – a lot of you like this dress! And over the last year I’ve tried out a few products – some great, some duds. I would describe their quality as the same as Everlane (which can be quite good), but Everlane tends to have some design tweak that I like better. However I then decided to try this silk slip skirt, and liked it enough that I thought I would post.

Quince skirt, $60 (referral code for $20 off here)

It’s a great skirt that can be worn for both formal and casual occasions. First, just a basic outfit – I threw on the skirt with a tank and some low heels.

Next, with a sweatshirt and some clogs. I’m definitely going to wear it like this, this winter! Super comfortable and casual.

And then a summer casual outfit above. I wanted to show that the skirt is quite versatile – I can see it being worn for both formal and less formal occasions. I do think certain colors might read more formal than others – the cream I think is one of the more versatile (with some caveats, below).

Also, everything I’m wearing is older stuff in my closet which I threw on.

Okay so, let’s get to some facts:

Sizing: I bought this skirt in a size small (I bought the dress in a XS). I decided to go one size up because I thought more room in the waist is never a bad idea (I didn’t do so on the dress as I worried about the chest gaping). The skirt just kind of hangs off of me, which is great. I could have definitely done a XS for a slimmer silhouette and I think the waist would have still been comfortable. However, I prefer this fit. I am 5’1 and you can see it is a true midi length on me.

Color: I like this champagne color, I think it’s really lovely and super versatile – it looks good with both cool and warm tones. However! it can be quite sheer and show underwear lines! You have to wear seamless underwear and/or a slip. I don’t mind this, but I can see how it can be annoying. If I were say, going on a trip, I’d probably pack a darker color, like the navy or black. I’m not sure how the gray does.

Quality: I think it’s fine for the price, actually quite good, at $60. I don’t think I’ve seen another silk slip skirt at that price. The silk is definitely thin, but not too thin, but you can negate that with a darker color. And the bias cut is lovely.

Wrinkling: The skirt does wrinkle. The last photo (the one where I’m wearing gold sandals) is how it looked before I passed a steamer over it. Not too bad. I don’t personally mind wrinkles and I don’t see how you can get a silk skirt *without* wrinkles, but just calling this out!

Finally – it’s awesome that it is machine washable.

All in all, I would recommend this skirt – I think it could be a hard worker in the closet! And the price is right, and there are free returns. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it if you have it! And if you would like to check out this skirt and/or Quince, you can use my referral code for $20 off your first purchase of $50 here (thanks if you do!).

Quince’s cashmere is also very, very good for the price point – starts around $60 for a crewneck. It’s not Pringle or other high-end brands, of course, but it’s also not cheap Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, store-brand quality.

I actually haven’t tried their cashmere. That’s next for me!

Thanks for the review! There’s so many things on the quince site, would love to hear what you tried out and thought was *fine* but not necessarily worth keeping!

I will def. keep this in mind for a future post! Some are just boring items like leggings, etc.

This is so helpful! I just received my first Quince order (also a mixed bag of what I kept/returned) and I’ve already got a wishlist going for my next order. This will definitely be on it!

I kept all of the workout gear and a silk cami, but returned my two Tencel jersey dresses. I’ve since acquired three sweaters though, and show no signs of stopping!

I am intrigued by the long column dress (it’s something like 39) but perhaps it will show every flaw.

I saw that too and didn’t order for the same reason!
