Orange Boxes

Hermes is one of my favorite brands, though due to the limitations of my wallet, I typically have to worship from a safe distance. I received these two orange boxes as a gift and I love them – they have a beautiful hand poured, lacquered finished and are the exact same shade of Hermes orange. I placed one of my own Hermes boxes on the bottom to complete the trio.

The boxes are velvet lined on the inside. Now the question is: do I need a third one to go on the very bottom, or should I keep the little real Hermes box I have on the bottom stack below? My decorating skills are close to nil.

Also a side note: did you know that during World War II, a shortage of materials forced Hermes to use the only paperboard available – which was orange? Prior to that, boxes were cream and mustard colored.

I had no idea! Goes to show that you can fashion anything from cheaper materials if you have a fantastic idea and product.

HI Katherine, not only is your blog extremely fashionable, but educational as well. I did not know that tidbit about Hermes- I'll use it next time I'm at a dinner party 🙂 It's amazing how something as simple as boxes could really make a statement. The colors are beautiful (and orange is perfect for fall). I have a problem with throwing out my designer goody boxes so I use them as decoration in my closet. That's about as creative as I get 🙂 Thanks for the post!

Those lacquered boxes are so pretty – and so similar to the Hermes box!

I think it would look great if you got the third matching box (or just stick with the two)! I feel like the size of the Hermes box is perfect, but the texture (not as shiny) and the outline (only on top versus on all edges) make it a little less consistent. HOWEVER, I probably would have thought they all matched at a quick glance!

I don't know if that helps!
    xo, sam

Hmm the matching box for the bottom would probably look more…well matching haha. But then the Hermes-factor of the Hermes box just adds that extra oomph!

Love those orange boxes with the black trim! Looks so chic and I like how it has that glossy finish. I think it would look better without the hermes box, or with the matching one to replace it (if there is such a size). ^^

I say keep the original Hermes box on the bottom because visually it gives a difference in color and texture. In comparison, the Hermes box is matte and looks beautiful against the high gloss boxes….just a suggestion 🙂

hm… if you decide to put some sort of figurine on top then no 2 boxes should be good… but if it's in a more open space 3 looks better…?
